Features
Four-player drop-in/drop-out madness!
Solo play is supported, but grab up to four pads and enjoy the supreme silliness of gaming’s greatest marathon. Need a bathroom break to brush pineapple juice off your onesie? Random pedestrian passing by your couch and wants to play? Whatever the cause, hop in and out for the ultimate party get-together!
Experience surprises galore in a race across all of Japan!
Cross the land of Nippon in a series of creative levels spanning busy city streets, narrow old streets, bustling markets, mountaintop shrines and even the top of a bullet train! You never know what will happen next in Nippon Marathon. Perhaps you’ll find time for an impromptu spot of slot machine fun? Maybe a news anchor will jetpack in to interview you on the racetrack? Heck, anything is possible…
An expansive story mode with a bizarre cast of characters!
Climb the ranks from rookie runner to marathon master. Experience the stories of lobster-man J DARWIN, narwhal enthusiast Elizabeth Nishibori, old uncle sailor Zenbei “XEN BAE” and wannabe dating-agency owner Snuguru Maestro, all while revealing the shady secrets of the unseen forces at play behind the Nippon Marathon. Can you beat the returning ten-time champion Handsome Hazuki and his cronies?
Chill out with some Party Games!
Some people like bird watching. Some people like a lazy Sunday afternoon drive. Some people like to throw themselves into a trolley, and smash head-first into man-sized bowling pins! Set your shopping trolley's position, take a running jump, wince as you hurtle towards random hazards and pray you don't end up in the emergency room. Mastered the Turkey in bowling? Then take on the L.O.B.S.T.E.R gauntlet! A precariously narrow, randomly generated assault course. Swinging hammers, pneumatic boxing gloves, and irate American footballers conspire to knock you into the drink!

Nippon Marathon 2: Daijoubu Enters Early Access on April 17th!
Konnichiwa everyone! We’ve got some exciting news that you might want to jot down in your notebook...✨ Nippon Marathon 2: Daijoubu is entering Steam Early Access on April 17th! ✨Get ready to dash through new courses, unleash new weapons, and of course, be chased by Shiba Inu!You can watch the brand new trailer here:Why Early Access? Making a video game is like running a marathon… except the course is still being built. And the builders are also racing, throwing fruit, and occasionally falling into the sea. It gets a little messy, a little sticky, and every so often someone gets knocked off the course by a bug we didn’t even know existed. That’s why Early Access exists. When development gets this chaotic, opening the gates early actually helps — it gives us room to breathe, lets us keep building the game at a sustainable pace, and invites the community to run alongside us, share ideas, and help shape the final experience together. It’s how the original Nippon Marathon began, and it worked wonderfully, so we thought… Let's do it all again! And the best part? The game is already ready for you to play, laugh at, fall over in, and shout “DAIJOUBU!” while we continue adding more mayhem behind the scenes. What’s waiting for you on April 17th?Three brand‑new stages Each one is packed with new hazards, shortcuts, and enough beautifully unhinged chaos to give you three new favourite stages — and at least five new ways to lose friends.Revamped gameplay & physics Smoother, sillier, and scientifically engineered for maximum wipeouts. All‑new Tutorial Learn the basics, master the fruit‑flinging fundamentals, and prepare your body for the kind of race etiquette that would get you banned from any real marathon.Create‑A‑Contestant Mode Craft the racer of your dreams… or nightmares. Both are valid.Photo Mode Capture every mid‑air disaster in beautiful, high‑definition shame. And that’s just the beginning…What’s coming during Early Access?Online multiplayer — ranked AND casualNew contestants — more weirdos to loveNew weapons — melons were only the beginningMore stages — more places to fall overMore chaos — obviouslyAnd yes, your feedback will help shape it all.If you shout “This melon is too powerful!” we'll probably ignore you. If you shout “This melon isn’t powerful enough!” we'll absolutely listen.3, 2, 1… Wishlist Nippon Marathon!Wishlist Nippon Marathon 2: DAIJOUBU and be first in line to cause chaos across Japan the moment it goes live.Coming Up Next: Meet you at Yolko Harbour! We got a tiny bit side-tracked by announcing the release date, but next time we’ll be back to regular broadcasting and getting you in the perfect mood for Early Access!Next time, we’re diving into Yolko Harbour. A fully operational dockyard that someone, for reasons unknown, decided was ideal for a marathon. Expect fast moving forklifts, sailors twirling their anchors, and a giant octopus with unresolved issues. So until next time…Stay DAIJOUBU!Amy & Andy
Avis des critiques et joueurs
Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« Don’t bother with Nippon Marathon if you don’t a have company to play the game with or if saying “keep it real, keep it Nippon” makes you irritated. Everyone else, though, forget cheap production values and throw yourself broad-mindedly into the craziness of Nippon Marathon! »
« Nippon Marathon is a ridiculous bakage game that's a ton of fun with friends but its annoying gameplay is only tolerable in short bursts. »
« Its party modes saves the day. [Issue#158, p.84] »
« There is a wacky, multiplayer racing game in there, but it feels more like a side effect of a notepad full of gags than a gaming experience that can entertain a group of friends long enough to make them briefly forget about Super Smash Bros., nor does the single-player experience do much after you understand what’s happening in front of you. »
« Nippon Marathon has the potential to be a fun party game, but its technical and design shortcomings prevent it from being a race worth running. »
« You should buy Nippon Marathon only if you are looking for something to play during an evening with your friends, and then forget about it. »
« With its Takeshi's Castle style, Nippon Marathon will delight those who enjoy the peculiar and ridiculously funny style of these contests, although neither technically nor playable is anything special. »
« Nippon Marathon is a curious multiplayer game that unfortunately falls prey to its own over the top nature. Some might enjoy the off-piste humour and Japanese influences, but it sadly limits the game's appeal, and at the end of the day, the presentation leaves a lot to be desired. The frantic gameplay feels too clumsy and disjointed to remain fun for very long. The janky nature of the game is part of the joke, but the joke isn't particularly funny in this case, and others have told it much better than this. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« Such a fun game with cool character design and an amazing announcer and a story mode for each main character. »
« Really amusing to play with friends, but it quickly becomes repetitive and boring. »
« Brilliant game, so much fun with a group of friends! Kinda wish there were more races and minigames, but what's there is great fun! Especially for the low asking price! »
« Amazing game!!! What more can you ask for its cheap, massively entertaining and utterly bonkers to boot. we spent hours and hours playing with mates and a few beers, many many laughs were had. Only criticism would be a little more content needed... »
« The critic reviews on this one are, for the most part DUMB and DEAF and possibly BLIND. I recently picked this up during a sale and it's great fun even as a single player game. The levels are inventive, the courses are stocked with wild obstacles from crazy Shiba dogs to exploding sake barrels. There's multiple branching paths and the checkpoints keep anyone from being knocked out of the race for good. The mini games which interrupt the races are good too my favorite being when Zedy Jones asks the players to respond quickly and in competition with each other on how to build a snowman. Then there's the robust and ludicrous story mode which is chock full o' conspiracies, weirdness and gags too. I played through as Snuguru, the dog man who wants to open a dating agency and despite a few times when I screamed malarkey at the top of my lungs, I had no trouble running races, and leveraging the items and shortcuts for advantages. If you have friends to play with its even better and will be a favorite at parties. BUY IT! THANK ME LATER!! »
