MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
Description (IGDB)
In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries you will adopt the role of a rookie MechWarrior pilot thrust into combat as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the Inner Sphere. Take contracts from the factions of your choosing and engage in tactical, first-person, PvE ‘Mech combat through an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice. Victory, prestige, and profit will not only require skill on the battlefield, but in the acquisition, maintenance, and enhancement of your BattleMechs. Set for release in 2018, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is under development by a dedicated development team at Piranha Games. MechWarrior Online, Piranha’s existing F2P multiplayer-focused tactical ‘Mech combat game, will continue its ongoing live development by the MWO team at Piranha.
Histoire (IGDB)
The year is 3015. Humanity has expanded to the stars, colonizing a vast region of space known as the Inner Sphere. Where the Star League once ruled in relative stability, generations of countless wars, alliances, and betrayals have divided the Inner Sphere into five distinct Successor States. These states, also known as the Great Houses, have fought and quarreled for centuries over the remnants of the Star League and control of the Inner Sphere. They are now in the midst of a Third Succession War, one which has been raging for almost 150 years. While the battlefields of the Inner Sphere burn with an array of devastating weaponry, none is more formidable than the BattleMech. These immense fighting machines, piloted by elite fighters known as MechWarriors, dominate the wars of the future with enough firepower to annihilate entire cities.

Description Steam (Français)
Bienvenue en l’an 3015 !

« MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a great introduction to the MechWarrior series and is primarily a PvE game. Players can expect to be rocking to an awesome soundtrack as they destroy their enemies on the battlefields. »
« MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a return to form. As a fan of the series, it’s been a very long wait, but PGI managed to deliver in a big way on nearly every front. While there are certain things that could be improved, what’s here is an excellent four player mech-stomping good time. »
« MechWarrior 5 is a symphony of stuff thrown at you all at once. You are a business running a mercenary outfit. Leading that outfit in every decision that must be made and going out on missions to help. At the same time digging for answers on who killed your Father, why, and most importantly, how to claim vengeance. While this isn’t the most original story, getting there get more and more fun the farther you get. If you have been itching for a new MechWarrior game, don’t pass this one by. »
« MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries checks most of the boxes I would have asked for out of a modern revival of the series. »
« MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a big, brash, bulky return to the spotlight for the mainline MechWarrior franchise that delivers on its promise of a more sim-like experience than many of its contemporaries. While it can be frustrating to get caught up in economic repair micromanagement, most of your enmity will be blown away when the robots start to rumble. »
« It takes time to really get into MechWarrior 5. »
« But I always returned, wanting and eager. Always under the prospect of "just one more mission." And then a mission after that, and a mission following that. Always "just one more." It's in this mantra that MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries excels. It's not the prettiest, most polished, or robust of games available, but - damn me - do I want to keep playing it. »
« But MechWarrior 5 is a game that will get a pass on its narrative woes because, I must concede, the narrative is so thin the gameplay completely trumps it. MW5 is unmistakably a game about being a sandbox mech jockey, and the stories are just a low-quality veneer over some superb robot combat. If you're here for a mech smashing simulator, this is the best new mech smashing simulator around. Here's hoping for more and better from a MechWarrior 6. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« This game looks like ass and runs like ass. I kid you not when I say that Titanfall 2 on my PS4 looks and runs way better than this. Hell, the original Titanfall looks and runs better than this. I have a mid range PC (9800x3d, 9070xt 16g, 32g ram) and I tried playing this at 1440p, with maxed out settings and no ray tracing and I had to turn on **** frame generation for the first time, just to get a measly 30fps. THIRTY FRAMES PER SECOND, on a game that looks like it belongs on a PS3/Xbox 360. My God, Microsoft you killed the Mechwarrior franchise for me which I loved as a teenager, with this one game. Stay away from this ugly mess ****. »
« I think it is a solid game, but... Pros.: Mechs. Graphics. The feeling of the game and succession with the predecessors. Customization. Cons.: Music. Repeatable content. Story. Feeling that there is so much potential but it was not fulfilled »
« Great upgrade to my favourite oldschool Mechwarrior 2 game. The graphics, design and options are great, although the game becomes somewhat boring, as all the missions are generally the same. »
« Looks good, plays fairly well, it's a bit simple compaired to the older games but it's a good bit of fun. The dlc makes it better and the mods make it amazing. »
« Pretty great time of a "stompy robit" game. As a complete noob to Battletech, it was easy to digest what what happening and fun to learn about the different mechs. This is definitely a more slow and deliberate kind of mech game, not fast and flashy. It offers a competent amount of customization for both you and your 3 fellow lance mechs. The AI is pretty decent and allows for a great solo experience. Though if you do play with some pals, you can get away from the "standard" loadout and get up to some serious shenanigans. I was only playing with the base game and it was still a great time, and if you are playing multiplayer, it is peer-to-peer so only the host needs to own expansions for all to enjoy. Even more fun to try playing with voice commands and shouting orders at your lance-mates. The story is pretty basic and the voice acting is hit or miss. All in all, a great time to be had. »
« MechWarrior 5 is a pretty "mid" game on its own, but with mods this experience turns into THE BEST in the franchise. The DLCs are also worthwhile expansions to the game, if a bit expensive. However, this will never be a 10/10 experience because of how stupid the AI is and gaps in the experience that make it feel very gamey (no fixed-wing aircraft that exist in-lore, tanks are pushovers to make you feel more powerful, you can't deploy your own tanks, no infantry *without mods, jump jets are a broken joke, movement mechanics limited in ways that strictly adhere to the MechWarrior formula, very limited storytelling, repetitive in ****) It has a lot of caveats but it's still the best MechWarrior has ever been. I adore that this is the first in the series that represents melee combat. It does so very simply, but given how simple the game is altogether, it works well and is fun. Oh, and the co-op! It's a co-op game! A great co-op experience! Play with friends! »
« It's a very solid Mechwarrior game that has improved quite a lot since it first launched back in late 2019. »
« Trash. Graphics are early PS2 with some fancy lens flare thrown in. Texture pops are atrocious. Zero tutorials (oh they show you how to shoot the gun. They just don't explain the economy, or outfitting the mechs, or anything else.) Music is public domain, phone-on-hold grade. Armored Core 2 looked, played and sounded better than this. »
