Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, développé par Neversoft Entertainment et édité par Activision et Aspyr Media, est sorti le 27 juin 2008 sur PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2, Mac et Wii. Ce jeu de musique permet au joueur d'incarner le groupe Aerosmith, retraçant son parcours d'inconnus à superstars du rock. La durée de la campagne principale est estimée à environ cinq heures et demie, tandis qu'un parcours complet peut atteindre soixante-quatre heures. Le score agrégé du titre s'élève à 67,92.
Côté accueil, la presse et les joueurs ont livré des avis nuancés. PGNx Media a ainsi souligné que l'appréciation du jeu dépend de l'attachement au groupe, tandis que le magazine finlandais Pelit a vu dans cette association « un mariage fait au ciel ». Sur Metacritic, certains joueurs y ont vu une bonne alternative à Guitar Hero III grâce aux titres majoritairement calmes d'Aerosmith, tout en regrettant que le titre abandonne une partie de ce qui faisait le succès de son prédécesseur, appréciant néanmoins le récit retraçant l'histoire du groupe.

« The game is good. I like Aerosmith, I got to give them credit for the extras in the game compared to GH3. There are new guitars even the returned ones like the Thunderbird, and the Gibson EDS-1275, new finishes especially for the guitars that appeared in GH3 like blue for the Kramer Focus, New Century for the Flying V although it did appear in GH2, white and yellow for the Synapse, transparent blue and amber for the Epiphone Les Paul, characters' styles info. Aerosmith's guitars and basses are cool like the Ampeg Dan Armstrong, Les Paul Glittering Gold, Sadowsky Pink Sparkle, and the Gretsch G6128T Duo Jet Doubleneck. The game is easier than GH3. These are its pros. But there are some cons in this game. It's just that it should've had other songs like I Don't Want to Miss a Thing, Janie's Got a Gun, Amazing, and even Last Child and Same Old Song and Dance. The GH Xbox 360 Dual Pack makes me think the game is worth it. »
