Cheat Code Central 96/100

« Judgment is literally as much fun as Gears of War 2. It doesn’t have this scope or severity one and three had, but it operates on a grand scale. I, for one, couldn’t be happier. »

Console Monster 95/100

« Overall, Gears of War: Judgment is a brilliant addition to the Gear of War series. While some gamers may question whether the short campaign and the few changes to the multiplayer is worth the hefty price tag, there’s hours of enjoyment to be had, just like its predecessors also offered. With the inevitable summer drought approaching, this is most definitely a game to consider purchasing. »

IGN 92/100

« Gears of War 3 appeared to exhaust what third-person, cover-based shooters do best. Judgment makes Gears of War feel young again. »

GamingXP 92/100

« This prequel isn't just a visual delicacy. Gameplay-wise it reaches heaven-like levels. We especially enjoyed the Declassified missions. And although the single-player suffers from some minor AI issues, the co-op mode manages to satisfy. »

Eurogamer Italy 90/100

« Gears of War: Judgment is a great example of how a huge exclusive can become bigger and better even after its (virtual) final episode. Epic can have nice dreams because Gears of War is in good hands. »

Destructoid 90/100

« OverRun alone is worthy of praise, but there's just so much stuff going on in this package, there's something for all followers of the series. A few of Judgment's experiments may not be as fondly received as others, but overall it's hard to complain about a game that tries so much, and succeeds in almost all its endeavors...This is Gears of War back, unquestionably, on the winning path. »

Joystiq 90/100

« A diligent approach to ensuring that no two encounters are the same keeps it from ever feeling stagnant or like a waste of your time. You're always moving, constantly pushing through the next enemy stronghold, never sure of what you'll face, and it's always harrowing. »

MondoXbox 90/100

« Judgment places itself between tradition and innovation for the series, with an adrenaline-fueled story and a completely revolutionized multiplayer winking to the most popular online titles. Due to this it probably won't please the most conservative fans but surely deserves to be tried. People Can Fly undoubtedly did good work keeping up the series' high standards. »

« Gears of War: Judgment – 8.4/10 - A bold but divisive entry that experiments with structure and gameplay. The mission-based format and optional Declassified challenges add replayability, but the shift away from traditional pacing feels jarring. Combat is faster and more arcade-like, which may not appeal to everyone. The story offers interesting lore, though it lacks the emotional weight of the main trilogy. »

« Its ok, this was well before the remaster/remake and prequel era so I'm giving this game quite a bit of slack otherwise I would rate it lower. The game feels lazy and lacks the passion the first three have. I think this game was more a place holder for the cycle the devs have been on...every 2 to 3 years for a new game. The story is their but lacking some lore and the combat is the thing holding this game together. Pretty sure they didn't know what direction they wanted to go and didn't have the idea of Gears 4 and 5 in their minds when doing this. The game is mainly important purely for new characters and to keep the old setting. »

« "Judgment" is easily the worst "Gears of War" ever made, but it's still fun. Developed by the "Bulletstorm" team, the game is very arcade-style in design. Levels are much smaller in size and shorter in length than in the previous entries. The story is a prequel to the original GOW with Baird and Cole standing in for Fenix and Dom. Also included is a bonus "Gears of War 3" prologue stage that lasts about an hour. Overall, I would rate this with a 7.5 out of 10. »

« Gears of War: Judgment is a spin-off game set 14 years before the first game's events. This was the next game in the Gears of War lineup after Gears of War 3. Now, I have many issues with this game. From the mission design that prioritized the quantity of the missions rather than the quality of those missions. The overall story that was told felt rushed and like a DLC. The defense wave base missions felt like some of the worst missions. From having to fight two Berserker-class enemies, your primary method to take them down is using the finite amount of flamethrowers. If you use all that, you might be in for a 30-minute waste as you shoot the enemy doing barely any meaningful damage. Also, the issue with having levels and missions meant to be beaten on one life implies the lack of checkpoints. I find that some of the only things I found applying were the "Star" mechanism, where you could collect stars by doing things, and I also liked that your squad felt useful. While some declassified missions are borderline impossible, most felt fair for the added challenge that was being added to the mission. My closing complaint is that I played this on Hardcore, and this might have been the easiest hardcore experience I have had in a game. »

« Muy buena historia, entretenida y jugabilidad interesante no siendo muy innovadora, usar las mecánicas tipo arcade hace que el juego sea más limitado fallando en este aspecto. »
