Forza Horizon 3, développé par Playground Games et édité par Microsoft Studios, est sorti le 27 septembre 2016 sur PC (Microsoft Windows) et Xbox One. Ce jeu de course place le joueur à la tête du Horizon Festival, lui permettant de personnaliser l'événement, d'embaucher ou de renvoyer ses amis et d'explorer l'Australie à bord de plus de 350 véhicules, dans une célébration libre de l'automobile, de la musique et de la route. Fonctionnant sur le moteur ForzaTech, il affiche un temps de parcours de 17 heures et demie pour l'histoire principale et de 114 heures pour une complétion intégrale, avec un score Metacritic de 86 et un score OpenCritic de 91. La presse a salué la qualité du titre, GameSpew évoquant un arcade racer proche de la perfection avec des visuels phénoménaux, tandis que TrueAchievements a souligné la conception soignée des voitures et la beauté des environnements ouverts. Certains joueurs sur Metacritic ont toutefois regretté une intelligence artificielle décevante, quand d'autres ont au contraire classé le jeu parmi leurs favoris, citant son aspect convivial.

« Seriously, I have no idea where Playground Games can go with Forza Horizon from here. The map is huge, yet well-populated with things to do. The car selection is vast, the controls are spot-on, the game looks gorgeous in all areas, the musical options are diverse, the online play is excellent, and the community tools are rock solid. I have little doubt that we’ll see a Forza Horizon 4 down the road, but I think you’ll find Forza Horizon 3 leaves little room for improvement. It’s an A+ game top to bottom, and absolutely one of the best games you’ll play all year. »

« I gave this rating because the AI is absolutely terrible in this game.I like this game, but the stupid AI makes it impossible to play comfortably.I understand that the game is no longer supported. But the developers should do something about it. »
« Simplesmente top 10 jogos da minha vida, o jogo que me fez interessar novamente pelo gênero desde Most Wanted 2005, aqui a playground torna o jogo mais convidativo para o público casual que não gosta de perder tempo com progressões de campanha o que pode dividir opiniões com os mais hardcore, nem por isso o jogo perde o principal desde o primeiro game da série que é a diversão, é aquele tipo de jogo que você passa horas facilmente e nem percebe, a imersão do festival instiga a explorar todo o mapa que se passa na ficticia Surfers Paradise na Austrália, muito bem detalhada com gráficos que envelheceram muito bem para os dias atuais, as expansões Hotwheels e Blizard Mountain são um show a parte que agrega imensamente experiência, horas e muita diversão online com os amigos e/ou solo, sem dúvida um dos melhores jogos do xbox one. »

« AMAZING, the map its really nice, i LOVED IT, also, surfers paradise was a nice shot by turn 10, that place give me chills, the hot wheels expansion, sheesh way cooler than fh5, well, we still had a story mode, unfortunally, that was the way to the new forza gamemode style...(only focus on online) anyway, the last good forza »
« This is actually the best Horizon game. FH3 > FH > FH2 > FH4 > FH5. Crazy good soundtrack that I literally still listen to today. Best map we've gotten. I actually played through this one unlike 4 and 5. Surfers Paradise PARKING LOT Nothing has hit like this game in 2016-17 »
