Return to Monkey Island
À propos du jeu
Spitting the sand of Monkey Island from my mouth, I wondered if the life of a mighty pirate was all it was cracked up to be. I'd ignored recent events that should have been warning shots across the bow of my soul, from my wife's brush with death to the anti-pirate ramblings of an Australian gazillionaire. If only I'd chosen a different path, LeChuck might still be dead and the Ultimate Insult might have remained a mystery. If I'd never picked up a sword, the grog-swilling pirates of the Tri-Island Area might be unthreatened by the forces of gentrification and demonic heckfire. If only... suddenly, the hairy finger of a familiar monkey tapped me on the shoulder. It was time. Time for the biggest battle of my swashbuckling life.- Excerpted from "The Memoirs of Guybrush Threepwood: The Monkey Island Years"

« Hilarious, perfectly paced, and just the right amount of difficulty. Very few puzzles are total stumpers. »
« In short, Monkey Island has amazing production value, great graphics, good comedy, and a compelling story. »
« The best adventure game we've played in recent years, and an instant classic. »
« This comic farce will leave you rolling on the floor with laughter and provide hours of enjoyment, a healthy dose of good-natured, unadulterated fun, and more monkeys than every other game combined. »
« This is what an adventure game should be: easy to look at, great puzzles and sound, simple interaction, humour, solid writing and the power to transport the player somewhere else for some fun. »
« Monkey Island is still the best place to play. »
« I haven’t laughed so much, nor have I had so much fun playing a game in ages. »
« Despite the sometimes-baffling challenges (which, in all honesty, are pretty typical to the genre), EMI delivers exactly what the Monkey Island name promises-a lighthearted, entertaining, and well-written swashbuckling adventure game. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« Escape from Monkey Island is probably the weakest entry in the Monkey Island series with average graphics, cumbersome controls, bugs and a bit too much moon logic for my liking, but it's still a Monkey Island game meaning you'll stick around for its trademark humour, a whole bunch of returning characters and an excellent soundtrack. »
« I am a big fan of point and click games and this game was something else. It was release in 2000 in the same time I was playing Banjo Kazooie and I putted BK on side to finish this game. Fantastic. »
« Everything has already been said I think. Less than optimal controls, some annoying puzzles, and the "Herman bug" which necessitated downloading someone elses savegame. Die hard Monkey Island fans should play it, but if you have no special feelings for MI, better stay away. »
« [SPOILER ALERT: This review contains spoilers.] »
« One of the weaker entries in the series. It had it's charm and it's gags, but they didn't feel that fresh and the engine brought it down a notch »
« In regards to the 2018 re-release, the biggest flaw about EFMI is its horrific controls. I get it that it was a game that (for some reason) had a PS2 release, but the PC version should have been able to utilize the mouse as lining up Guybrush using use the arrow keys to get anywhere is just impossible. Not to mention the poor keybinds that spreads everything across the keyboard. Just what was LucasArts thinking? »
« Good adventure game, bad Monkey Island game. Plot holes hurt my soul. Monkey Kombat hurts me physically. »
