Dynasty Warriors 2 est un jeu vidéo développé par Omega Force et publié par Koei, sorti le 3 août 2000 sur PlayStation 2. Il appartient aux genres de la simulation, de la stratégie et du hack 'n' slash / beat 'em up. Le jeu donne vie à une époque de légendes en alliant le frisson et la rapidité de l'action à la profondeur de la simulation. Contrairement au premier opus, il ne s'agit pas d'un jeu de combat en un contre un, mais d'un beat 'em up en 3D où le joueur choisit un général et évolue dans des niveaux représentant des conflits de l'époque des Trois Royaumes, avec l'objectif de devenir le souverain d'une Chine unifiée. La liberté de mouvement dans les limites du niveau constitue une évolution notable par rapport aux jeux précédents du genre.
L'accueil critique a été salué par la presse, GamePro décrivant le jeu comme « sauvage, chaotique et intense », tandis qu'Antagonist le qualifie de « meilleur jeu d'action/aventure du lancement de la PS2 ». Les joueurs ont également exprimé leur appréciation, certains vantant l'immersion dans les batailles et d'autres le considérant comme l'un des meilleurs hack and slash de son époque. Dynasty Warriors 2 obtient une note agrégée de 70,61.

« Amazing War game really in the battles with your allies and enemies running around advancing on eachother with bosses would've been perfect if you could have more control on your allies with and a big story to get behind to be more invested with rivals i know kessen leans on these more I'm hoping future Dynasty games have more of these elements »

« I started the Dynasty Warriors Saga with number 2 on ps2, I still have the CD in my possession still working, it's a limited French edition. I can tell you that this game is a nugget, despite being old, but it has aged well. Always good to play. At the same time it is one of the games of my childhood which will remain in my heart. »
