Rufus is not a pleasant guy. Ill-tempered and entirely too convinced of his own greatness, he lives at the edge of a small settlement somewhere in the most remote sector of the garbage-covered planet Deponia. He dreams of a better life in the floating cities of wealth and beauty high above the planet surface. When the angelic Goal falls from these privileged spheres down into a neighboring trash heap, Rufus sees his chance. He decides to bring the unconscious beauty back to her home. Only a vague hope of making it off Deponia at first, he soon formulates an unscrupulous plan, as he learns that he is a dead ringer for Goal’s upper-class husband. The planned handover is only the beginning of a wild chase across Deponia full of twists, turns and mystifying mix-ups…

Deponia est loin d’être la destination idéale pour des vacances de rêve… Elle sert de vide-ordure aux riches habitants des planètes alentour et les déchets s’y entassent à perte de vue ! Mais les habitants ne sont pas tous résignés. Rufus, par exemple, en a ras le bol. Rien ne lui tient plus à cœur que de pouvoir, un jour, quitter son village natal. Chaque jour, il tente désespérément de fuir ce trou perdu.Son destin bascule lorsque Goal, une jeune et mystérieuse demoiselle lui tombe (littéralement) dans les bras. Rufus voit en elle une occasion unique de sortir de sa vie de misère: il va ramener Goal dans son monde, Elysium, où tout un chacun vit dans le luxe et sans soucis.
Vivez avec Rufus une aventure hilarante, dans laquelle vous allez devoir sauver une planète, mettre à jour une sombre conspiration mais aussi conquérir le cœur de sa bien-aimée ! Prenez garde, au cours de votre périple, vous rencontrerez un étrange sosie, de nouveaux amis mais aussi des ennemis insoupçonnés. La route vers l’Eldorado est semée d’embûches!

However, with it being a bit darker themes, I wouldn't know if you should let a kid play this. This game functions as one of those click everything on your screen games to see what happens. There is witty narration which attempts to succeed with light humor (not laughing) type comedy every clip, which are hit or misses. You need to combine various items you get to make new things as a steampunk tinkerer. And lastly it is a poor man rich lady romance. »

« If you like point and click games like "King's Quest" you will like this game. It has a beautiful world, a fun plot, and lots of great puzzles with a lot of variety. You can view every "interaction point" so there is no need to hunt around with your mouse. Every attempt on an interaction point gives fully voiced dialogue, and most items have a dialogue specific to those items. I found the interactions to be pretty coherent up and until the 3rd game (though I might have just been tired). The minigames are skip-able if you can't pass them, and good walkthroughs exist. I would only buy this version if you want a cheap demo. This is a 3 part game and you will want to finish the story, so buy the version that comes with all 3 parts. »
