Gaming Age 91/100

« All in all I found myself really impressed by what Call of Juarez: Gunslinger brought to the table. It took a series name fouled by a recent entry and essentially turned it into a respectable property once again, without completely abandoning the setting or tone found in earlier titles. »

Post Arcade (National Post) 85/100

« It feels like the developers at Techland did a little soul searching on this new game trying to come up with ways to creatively tell players are story, not cover up a poor narrative with swearing and racial stereotypes. »

CD-Action 85/100

« I didn’t care much for the series after CoJ: The Cartel, so I was very surprised by the fact that the modest digitally distributed effort to return to the Wild West turned out to be the best Call of Juarez ever. It has brilliant storytelling, looks great and offers pure, unadulterated fun. At this price it’s a steal. [CD-Action 07/2013, p.66] »

Impulsegamer 85/100

« If you have a hankering for a Western Video Game or need something a little different than the classic Red Dead Redemption than Call of Juarez Gunslinger is for you that successfully manages to refine this genre and include a few tricks up its sleeve. Add in the great price and there's very little to complain about. »

GameSpot 80/100

« There's so much stupid satisfaction to be had from Gunslinger's bloody headshots and from nailing sweet combos that its flaws quickly disappear in a flurry of gunpowder and shotgun shells. It doesn't look half-bad either, with a semi-cel-shaded design and some nicely detailed environments that drive the Wild West theme home. »

Official Xbox Magazine 80/100

« What is surprising, however, is that content of this quantity and quality costs just $15. With its meaty eight- to ten-hour campaign and near AAA-caliber execution (plus an endlessly replayable arcade mode), this game could have easily been a full-priced offering just two or three years ago. »

Game Informer 80/100

« I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Gunslinger's shootouts. The game certainly doesn't turn any FPS conventions on their ears, but it still presents tense and entertaining shootouts frequently. »

Hardcore Gamer 80/100

« Gunslinger is one of the best downloadable shooters on consoles and easily the best entry in the series. »

« This game isnt bad, i just wouldn't recommend it to someone due to the jankiness of it, missed opportunities, short story and i personally hate the standoffs.I don't even know where to begin. The boss fights all **** honestly cause they're just bullet sponges who take way to long to kill and you're either forced to run cover to cover since theyll just slowly walk towards you or youll have to peek out from behind what cover you have to pop a couple shots off and pop back behind cover for like 3 mins.Fighting the random henchman was the funnest part, but its also most of what you're doing of course. The game doesn't do a great job of guiding you on where to go next but that only really matters it the more cluttered areas,The color pallet being as dull as it is makes things blend in with each other to much so you have a couple enemies every level that are seemingly shooting you from no where. While the storytelling aspect was done well and had a nice twist at the end the audio is all distorted so listening to the cutscenes ****. Personally i dont like the standoffs. The way they work is dumb, being honorable vs not doesn't make any noticeable difference and having beaten the campaign on hard mode geez you're so fragile and enemies easily swarm you and not ina good way cause you're constantly forced to take cover and take pot shots from it cause of just how many people they throw at you but they just stand still shooting infinitely at you most of the time with only the rare instance of someone trying to flank you.Multiple times in the story are you completely surrounded and having to fight your way out of it was a drag in these segments given just how many they throw at you. The gun play is solid but idk why youd ever need a shotgun in this game since most enemies will be 50 yards or more away but whatever choices i guess. Does it ****? No not entirely but i coudlve not played this and would die happy all the same »

« Call of Juarez gunslinger, is an interesting concept. But I do feel like it's more of an arcade shooter it's fun for a couple hours, but starts to get repetitive and boring about halfway through. It's by no means a bad game, it certainly could have been better. »

« one of the best games i have ever played 10/10, kinda like rdr hmm, i wonde which one was first »

Sorex 10/10

« If I were asked to choose a game that was short and extremely enjoyable to play, I would definitely say Call of Juarez : Gunslinger. Admittedly, the game is fairly closed, with only corridors and straightforward paths to follow and no way of taking an alternative, but the gameplay is fluid. The idea of cold-bloodedness (inspired by Red Dead Redemption) is very well exploited. But the game's greatest strength is its storyline. You feel like you're in a western with Clint Eastwood, and it's easy to relate to the main character. And the ending (no spoilers) is unexpected. A fun, easy-to-play game. »

« This game is a load of fun!! Having the single player campaign being narrated by a cowboy who's in a saloon telling the story, I love it!! Adds a nice bit of humor. 1nce you translate the control properly, way more fun is to be had. »

« Good elements. Some of the setups for fights are frustratingly horrible, like being put into some inescapable low ground with the enemy all around. I am a strategic player of all games, so being forced into a hard battle I saw coming and couldn't decide to avoid with a smart strategy really **** the joy out of this game for me. They workedvery hard to prevent you from being able to take care and fight defensively. This game is only for the type of player that likes to run in guns blazing, **** that they force a type of play style because most of this game is made really well. A more open approach to big battles, like Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath (except most of the end section, that part ****), would have made this an 8 or 9/10 game. I can't imagine how developers would not be rewarded for allowing players space to play in a way that works for them. In this case it'd be pretty easy to make better because they worked hard to do the opposite and control your engagement too much. So don't do that, step back and the game is already better. The controlling thing feels like a decision someone made after the game was almost finished, "No, make it more stressful, the projections say stressful games sell 7.67% more on the 14-40 male demographic....blah blah...quarterly reports...shareholders.. yabbity blabbity...this stick is really chafing the o'd bunghole, how DID it ever get in there?" »
