Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Description (IGDB)
Throughout Ace Combat 6, the player must pilot a fighter jet or other aircraft to destroy foes both in the air and on the ground. As an arcade flight game, it simplifies flight controls and gives the player a large amount of bullets, missiles and other weapons, putting them up against a very large amount of enemy forces. In addition to missiles and a vulcan cannon, the player can equip special weapons such as heat-seeking missiles, bombs, rocket launchers, and others. The player can lock on to a number of foes, and assist different tactical squads by switching between their respective HUD readouts. The game includes 4 default multiplayer modes: Battle Royale, Siege Battle, Team Battle, and Co-Op Battle. In Battle Royale, the basic Deathmatch game mode, up to sixteen players shoot each other down to earn the highest points at the time limit. In Team Battle, a basic Team Deathmatch game is created. Points are awarded based on the type of aircraft destroyed. A unique type of multiplayer game, Siege Battle is played with two teams, Attacking and Defending. The Attacking team attempts to destroy the target (usually heavily defended by flak) within the time limit. The Defending team tries to halt their attack. The co-op battle mode consists of two single-player missions without AI that can be played with up to three other players.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« The most solid, robust, and realistic Ace Combat game yet. Even if you're not into playing online, Fires of Liberation offers a hearty helping of intense, varied combat that will keep you coming back long after you've completed your first campaign. »
« Far better than any other flight game on the 360 - and it also happens to be a technical showcase for HDTV fanatics everywhere. »
« Easily the best flight-sim available on next-gen systems, not to mention the best the series has ever had to offer. Picture perfect controls and lush visuals make this a package that fans of the series will not want to miss. »
« Rather than merely surpassing the expectations set by its predecessors, Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation provides a foundation for console-based aerial combat games of the future. »
« There's something genuinely thrilling about Ace Combat's high speed dog-fighting that grabs you by your throat and refuses to let go. It's unashamedly arcadey, it doesn't last all that long and the between mission cut scenes are a bit of a pointless distraction, but once you're in the air there's few games that provide as intense a feeling of exhilaration. »
« The controls are easy to pick up, which makes flying and combat both simple and fun. »
« There are so few games that get air combat right, but Ace Combat hits the nail on the head. From the huge scale air support missions to the vicious online dogfights, everything about this game is perfect. Its limited appeal is offset by the fact it serves that audience so well. »
« A visual treat and pure arcade shooting fun. The missions are full of action and while you always end up saving the day, it certainly feels like there’s a war going around you. It’s a pity that the cutscenes are so full of phony melodrama and corny dialogue. [Nov 2007] »

« It's "short" but every mission is absolutely ginormous in scale. Take an A-10 into every mission and you'll see why it's so fun. It's stupid and I thoroughly enjoyed it. »
« Ace combat 6 is a game released from 2007, The mechanics and other parts of this game easily aged. Gameplay is enjoyable and entertaining though there are some parts of the game where it gets annoying especially the non-stop "Missile Allert" warning. Finishing this game feels like an accomplishment as you wouldn't want to touch this game again. Its only enjoyable on the first run but replaying this game feels like a chore. The story seemed to be messy at first but you will see the connections as the game progresses through it is overall "mid". The game is pretty solid for its time and graphics still holds up to this day. »
« Very hard, extremely boring. All you do is looping around your enemies to avoid their attacks and try lo land some... over and over and over, »
« I really want to enjoy this game but Mission 9 is one of the most awful things I've ever been put through I hate this mission with a passion all the good points of the game disappear when I just keep my head against this meeting so I have been it. I have to beat it on easy but spite I feel because of this f****** mission is the worst I have in the entire franchise I hate it. »
« Simply wonderful! Simply wonderful! Simply wonderful! Simply wonderful! Simply wonderful! »
« BOI, THIS GAME IS SO COOL!!! I can't believe I didn't play this game before 2021. More arcade-y than flight sim-y, this game is a a must have for any Xbox 360-owning fighter jet fanatic. Voice acting in gameplay could go beyond the normal "missile fired" or "Fox 2", but that's just my opinion. Great game. »
« welp scene i'm here time for a review this really good the graphics are great the sound is great the music is great its just a great game with lots of great things to come its way (ace combat 7) lets hope the next is great too »
« Unfortunately poor game. The graphics are decent, and some of the sounds are good, though I'm not too impressed with the music. Sadly that's about it for positives. It's supposed to be an arcade game. OK, fine. So get rid of the long delays getting from one section to another, particularly if you have to go back to reload. The biggest problem I have with it, though, as an arcade game, is the controls. It's very easy to overcontrol and lose your direction. Worse, the targeting is abominable. There are WAY too many targets and no good way to choose the one you want. It picks one and shows which is "next." One button cycles through the available choices, and often there are dozens. You can't filter them or cycle backwards, so if you miss selecting the one that's in front of you, you have to keep hitting y-y-y-y-y until it comes up again. By that time you've flown past it. IMMENSELY frustrating, especially since it doesn't lock on as fast as it should. Lots of other gameplay issues. The targets you need to clear to complete a mission are marked in red, but the constant chatter has nothing to do with your assigned tasks. It goes on and on about stuff related to the overall mission, but nothing to clearly direct you to your targets. I guess it's more realistic that way, and provides some atmosphere, but listening to the same stupid script the twentieth time you try to complete a mission is just annoying. Oh, and the wing man is useless. The overall story line is completely lame, and pretty dark, all at the same time. Again, if it's supposed to be an arcade game, lighten up a bit. If it's supposed to be a realistic war-and-battle simulation, it needs to be more realistic. I don't know of any real plane that can carry multiple hundreds of missiles. Clearing some missions opens up new planes and even new tutorials. Then it auto-saves. So far so good. So now you purchase and select a new plane and work through the tutorials. The planes are in your "hanger" and the tutorials are marked "complete." But then it DOESN'T save progress. If you fail to complete the next mission (the usual case, since they're long), the next time you play you have to buy the planes again and do the tutorials again! Wow! If I want frustration, I can just go to work. . . . The manual is about par for the course, that is to say, pretty incomplete. I bought my first computer in 1979, and bought the original "Flight Simulator" along with it. This one, sadly, goes in the stack of "makes me want to throw the controller at the screen." »
