Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monster Coliseum

This 3D board game consists of a series of duels, which are played with cards. The game has been split up in a Campaign Mode, in which you take on all levels of the Monster Coliseum on your own, a Free Battle Mode where you play skirmish matches against enemies defeated in the campaign, and a versus mode to take on a human opponent. Before starting, you have to choose a symbol, assign parameters to it (based on monster points, action points and power points) and buy a starter kit card deck. In a typical campaign game, you start in the entrance hall, where you manage your cards and monsters. To duel, you choose one of the four areas with five levels each, and defeat the opponents. New monsters are acquired by winning the match. The turn-based duels are played as a card game. Both characters start with a deck of cards and a number of health points. When a health status reaches zero, the battle is over. You attack your opponent by summoning monsters and assigning abilities to them. Trick cards can be used to gain both offensive and defensive advantages. Before each duel, you have to pick a monster that is up for ante, and the fighting is influenced by various parameters, including the land form you are playing on.

« These is Yugioh's own take on how a rpg tactics game should be done. But for me, it just doesn't compare to any legit tactics game like FFT, Xcom, and Fire Emblem. Yugioh is just better at being played as a card game. That is where it should stay. »
« It's an enjoyable strategy game that has stood the test of time well. It doesn't play like a traditional Yu-Gi-Oh! game, but it's a lot of fun once you understand the rules and how to play. There's a stand alone plot the revolves around the came characters from the anime/manga, whilst is nothing all that special it is serviceable. »

« A mecânica é ótima, trás inúmeras possibilidades. Talvez o maior problema seja o pouco que podemos explorar das criaturas aumentando de nível, evoluindo. O jogo é rápido para concluir, mas muito lento para iniciar as cenas de batalhas entre as criaturas. Como hoje (2020) está tudo mais veloz, darei uma nota que acho compreensivo se eu jogasse na época. Outro motivo é porque não exploraram mais sequências desse jogo divertido. »

« Beneath the wave of nostalgia I've replayed this game recently to see my opinions of it, and the game holds up well. Game plays well, the AI is relatively good (I've found that a few enemies have set strategies that are pretty predictable, but that's really no different from facing a normal human so it passes), the music holds up fairly well, all I can minimum for a game is to have a good soundtrack. It's chess, but Yu-Gi-Oh Chess with stuff like leveling up, type matchups, and evolution. If you're a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, it holds up very well, so give it a try if you can snatch a copy nowadays! »
