Yakuza 0
Yakuza 0
Description (IGDB)
Yakuza 0 is an action-adventure beat 'em up and a prequel to the Yakuza series, set in 1988 Japan during the country's economic bubble era. The game follows two protagonists: Kazuma Kiryu in Tokyo's Kamurocho district and Goro Majima in Osaka's Sotenbori district. Players alternate between their stories as they navigate the criminal underworld, engaging in street fights using multiple switchable combat styles, managing businesses, and participating in a wide variety of side activities and minigames. The game is largely credited with bringing the long-running franchise to mainstream Western attention.
Histoire (IGDB)
In December 1988, young yakuza Kazuma Kiryu finds himself framed for a murder that took place on a small, seemingly insignificant plot of empty land in Tokyo's Kamurocho district. The lot turns out to be the final piece needed for a powerful crime family's redevelopment scheme, making it the most valuable piece of real estate in the city. To protect those closest to him, Kiryu abandons his clan and sets out to uncover who set him up and why. Meanwhile in Osaka, disgraced former yakuza Goro Majima operates a cabaret club under constant surveillance, desperate to earn his way back into the organization that cast him out. When he is offered a chance at redemption in exchange for carrying out an assassination, Majima must decide how far he is willing to go. Both men are drawn inexorably toward the same conspiracy, where the fates of the powerful and the powerless hinge on a single piece of ground.

Nice game, good story and gameplay

Original Yakuza 0's getting delisted from Steam on December 8, but you can tuck away a GOG copy for 45% off right now
You ask me (which, by clicking on this article, you did), Yakuza 0 is one of the best games I ever played. It's so good—such a pitch-perfect blend of high drama and high camp, and with perhaps the most engrossing minigame known to man packed in—that I kind of struggle to pick up other Yakuza games. I feel like I've already spent 100+ hours with the best one... Read more.
Avis des critiques et joueurs
Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« For all its humour, its intelligent noirish thriller narrative, and the sheer amount of stuff to do, Yakuza’s real strength forever remains in the little details that it gets right about its representation of Japanese cities... Every Yakuza game to date has been a genuine classic, and Yakuza 0 continues the fine form for a series of JRPGs that is right up there with the best of the genre. It’s completely essential. »
« Mood, pathos, emotion, humor ... and helluva fights. This is a combination that makes Yakuza zero the one of the most entertaining game in the whole series. For lovers of Japan Y0 is a must-have. [Issue#272] »
« With such a dynamic and interactive interface, Yakuza 0 will keep you coming back for more and even catch you off guard when you least expect. It’s a game everyone should experience or at least try out. »
« If Yakuza‘s always been this magnificent, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do and a lot of “friends” to chew out for not recommending it to me sooner. »
« A wondrous melting pot of Japanese cultural excess distilled into a relentlessly compelling synergy of RPG and action elements, Yakuza 0 arguably represents the consummate entry point for newcomers to the series. Without a doubt, Yakuza 0 is a masterpiece and the first must-have title of the year. »
« If there is one game you decide to take a chance on this year, please let it be Yakuza 0 - a game that is as fun and intelligent as it is silly and violent. »
« Yakuza 0 is a diamond that no gamer should ignore irrespective of whether they’re drawn to Japanese games or not. Grand Theft Auto has a much larger budget, but Yakuza has a much bigger heart. [03/2017, p.50] »
« Yakuza 0 is a magnificent achievement that should be experienced by anyone interested in lecturing people on the importance of money, then blowing ten billion yen on a horrifically tacky golden statue of themselves. Or those curious about winning a chicken in a bowling competition, then installing it as the manager overseeing some of the most financially lucrative real estate holdings in Tokyo. Or those inclined to beat fifty knife-wielding thugs to a pulp in a back alley before heading off for takeaway and wasting the night playing Outrun. Or those wondering why that man in the convenience store is walking around in his underpants, and being unafraid to forge an unexpected friendship with him. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« The story, soundtrack, and the whole vibe makes this game so good and enjoyable. Might be a little tedious towards the end especially the real estate and the hostess side quests. The intro of the game both version is so good. »
« SCORE: Mid 8, 8,5/10 Cool game, the story is good, good/memorable moments, characters are interesting and diverse with motivations their own personality, the story has interesting twists, the music and themes are good, the substories are funny as fk i laughed my ass off at some of them almost never happened in videogames to me, i find the substories even more entertaining than the main story, the environments/cutsenes are high quality and very diverse, the story is good and intense in the first 4 chapters, thenn slows down after chapter 5 to 6 and goes faster again thats why many people drop this game, at chapter 11/12 only 35% finished the trophy on ps4 which means most people quit the game. and i understand that, the pacing sometimes ****, the game has its weak spots, i also think the game is a little bit overrated and definitely not a masterpiece but its worth playing if youre the right guy. for some it could be too dialouge heavy or too akward weird substories. but it fits my personal taste. and chapter 5/6 were so boring that i almost quit the game, i stopped for 6 months playing the game then returned to it. but then again after seeing the slow pacing and sometimes low budget of the game you see the high quality animations/cutsenes/animation effects and understand how much heart and blood/sweat went into this game, like a poor development studio tried their best to develop a good game. not everyones type of game but for me it def. is. the game also has lots of sideactivities and interesting lore/dynamics but sometimes complex. »
« Absolute gem ****. Only thing that holds it back for me is I’m not too in tune with the beatem up gameplay of yakuza. Still fun to play but eh. Everything else though is master class »
« Yakuza 0 is a good game with a strong story and characters though I didn't fell in love with it. »
« Yakuza 0 is a very good game to start the Yakuza franchise with. The mechanics are great, story is good, and the sub-stories are goofy. »
« the way the game starts to how it ends and all that happens in between makes the game really nice »
« One of my favourite games of all time, with top of class storytelling, characters, cinematography, voice acting and dialogue, combined with some very fun beat em up combat, entertaining and expansive side content and top tier soundtrack make for the definitive way to get into the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, showing the origin story off series mainstays Kiryu Kazama and Goro Majima »
« This is one of my favorite games of all time. Fantastic storytelling and there’s so much to do with substories and side content. Can’t recommend enough! »
