Ce titre constitue la suite du jeu primé Wonderland Adventures. L'intrigue place à nouveau le monde magique de Wonderland en danger, invitant le joueur à se rendre sur la mystérieuse île de Fire Island afin d'élucider une ancienne énigme pour sauver la situation.
Du côté des retours de la communauté, certains joueurs s'exprimant sur Metacritic ont partagé des avis positifs. L'un d'eux a qualifié l'expérience de grand jeu de puzzle avec une histoire captivante et une réalisation soignée, mentionnant même la possibilité de passer des niveaux. Un autre joueur a confié que Mysteries of Fire Island fait partie de ses jeux favoris, jugeant que Midnight Synergy ne déçoit jamais avec la série Wonderland et considérant cet opus comme probablement le meilleur à ce jour.

« I played this when it came out, great puzzle game, great story and in general it's pretty well made. There's even the ability to skip levels if they are too hard. The prequels are pretty good too. »
« Mysteries of Fire Island is one of my favorite games. Midnight Synergy never disappoints with the Wonderland series, and this is arguably the best one yet. It's really atmospheric, there's a lot of cool stuff to play with, it includes support for custom levels and hubs (but only if you have the proper tools), and so much more besides. The only problem I have with it is that the difficulty curve is a little steep for what it's worth. Still, it will be possible to finish and easy to enjoy for any true Wonderland fan- and believe me, when you pick this series up on your radar, it's hard not to be. »
