Toybox Turbos, développé et édité par Codemasters, est un jeu de course « vue de dessus » sorti le 2 octobre 2014. Il propose de revivre une expérience de course sur table de manière moderne, en s'inspirant des classiques du genre. Le jeu est disponible sur PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 et PC.
Conçu sur le moteur EGO, Toybox Turbos offre un large choix de contenu. Les joueurs peuvent utiliser et personnaliser 35 véhicules différents pour affronter 18 circuits truffés d'obstacles et de raccourcis. L'action est intense et chaotique, avec des power-ups dévastateurs comme des mines, mitrailleuses ou marteaux géants permettant d'envoyer les adversaires dans le décor. Le jeu met en scène des courses dans des environnements variés, comme sur une table de cuisine éclaboussée de confiture ou à travers des engins de labo crachant des flammes.
La structure du jeu propose six modes en solo, ainsi que des modes multijoueur permettant à quatre joueurs de s'affronter. Ces modes sont jouables en local, en ligne ou en combinant les deux. Toybox Turbos a également été compatible avec le casque de réalité virtuelle Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 (DK2) pour une expérience en 3D.
À sa sortie, le jeu a reçu un accueil mitigé, avec un score Metacritic de 69. La presse a noté certaines qualités, comme GameWatcher estimant qu'il « coche tout ce que les jeux sous licence faisaient si bien à l'origine », ou Multiplayer.it le décrivant comme « amusant, compétitif et graphiquement inspiré ». Cependant, des critiques soulignaient un manque de contenu. Du côté des joueurs, les avis sont partagés. Certains saluent son style, sa variété de véhicules et le plaisir de jeu, le comparant favorablement à des classiques comme Micro Machines. D'autres expriment une déception, regrettant notamment l'absence de mode course rapide, une durée de vie solo évaluée à environ 3 heures pour le défi principal, ou une expérience qu'ils jugent plus basique que les inspirations du jeu.

« قد تكون من افضل العاب الي لعبتها لي تاريخ لكن شركة اضاعت فرصة بسبب محتوى قليل الذي يمكن أن تهامه بأقل من ٣ ساعات او اكثر وسيارات غبية وتسويق اصلا ما اقدر اسميه تسويق مجرد اعلان لعبة مظلومة جيمبلاي وسيارات ولعب جماعي مع اصدقائك شيء تاريخي لكن كور قصة فيه تكرار بعض مو مشكلة كبيرة لأن فيه تغييرات بسيطة وايضا صعوبة أعلى لكن مشكلة ليش مافي تنويع في مراحل ليش مافي مراحل مع كل لفة تتغير ليش مافي اختصارات كثير ليش طور باتل يكون في كتب صغير وتتقاتلون صح في باتل لكن بس سباق وليش درفت غبي كثير مرا تزحلق بسببه وليش محتوى حدا قليل وكأنها لعبة اندي لعبة كانت تكون من اهشخر العاب ومحبوب ة بدى لتعبين لما بسبب غباء شركة لعبة لم تحقق مبيعات كثيرة وجرافيك جيد جدا لكن تمنيت أكثر وايضا زعماء روعة لكن ليش لما احصل سيارة بوس ما اقدر احصل قدرات خاصة مثل سفينة ليش ما اقدر أمشي فيها على ماي على أقل يكون في قيمة للسيارة وايضا ليش سيارات زعماء لما احصلهم يكونوان حيل ضعيفة وخاصة دبابة لنا تواجه تكون حيييييييييييييل قوية ولما تحصله تكون حيل خايسة وثقيلة وبس تقييم نهاري للعبة 7/10 »

« Remember Micro Machines? That's what you see here, it's the same setting, the same gameplay, even the same developer. Only the title is different because Codemasters wanted to distance themselves from the franchise and release a game under their own IP, or at least that's what I'm guessing happened. Whatever the plan was, looks like it didn't really work since a couple of years later they went back to the Micro Machines trademark. It is a pretty good game, though. It has everything a table-top racing game should have. Plenty of creative and colorful stages, various toy cars to unlock and play with, many gameplay modes, and purposefully clunky controls. It's very laid-back and simplistic, even bordering on being a mobile-type game (and progress being tied to a number of stars you gain in each level, like in a typical mobile title, definitely doesn't help that impression,) but if you're into that type of casual arcade racing and don't mind almost decade-old games, there's definitely plenty of fun to have here. »
« Quite a casual racing game, between Micromachines and Mario Kart. The few hours of play are enjoyable, but there is little challenge and absolutely no depth of gameplay. If you get it for one or two bucks or in a bundle, this can entertain you and your young children for a bit. But nothing beyond that. »

« Game is decent. Fun on the screen even more fun in VR. I would say Game is worth 7 and +1 for VR implementation depending on camera settings it can even induce slight motion sickness. For some it might be better game than BlazeRush, but VR implementation in BlazeRush is way better. »
« I´m playing it on the Rift and it´s a match made in heaven! This all works so well together, absolutely flawless. I wish I had a second DK2 to play together with someone in the same room. Great fun! »
