PLAY! Zine 85/100

« The Liar Princess and the Blind prince is beyond charming. A game of average gameplay but superb art style and story, ultimately delivers an extraordinary, fairytale-ish experience that is hard to forget, and even harder not to love. »

Nintenderos 84/100

« Nippon Ichi Software tells the story of a prince and a princess with this dark fairy tale and its ingenious and varied mechanics. It is not perfect, but it is a highly recommended experience that you will love. »

NintendoWorldReport 80/100

« The brief length can make it feel a little less ambitious, but I can't say I was let down by this whimsical short story of a video game. Lovely art, a cute story, and solid puzzle platforming help make The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince a pleasant ride. »

God is a Geek 80/100

« This adventure game with light puzzles is well worth your time if you enjoy fairy tale aesthetics and stories. I adored the art and music and the only real flaw with this game is the few minor performance issues with Switch version. The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince is a charming storybook tale and I can’t wait to see the next release from NIS’ smaller team. »

EGM 75/100

« The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince continues Nippon Ichi Software’s tradition of visually compelling games that sadly feel a little lacking in the gameplay department. This adventure of a wolf in human form leading a delicate prince through a dangerous forest could have benefitted from a deep level of puzzles and polish—and yet, in the end, it may still win you over due to its style and sentiment. »

Switch Player 70/100

« The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince delivers a short but heartwarming experience that, despite having some flaws in its gameplay, really sticks with you after the ending credits thanks to its beautiful presentation. »

Pure Nintendo 65/100

« If you tend to play games for the story, you’ll find plenty to like about The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. If you’re more about the puzzles and the platforming action, however, it’d be best to leave this particular storybook on the shelf. »

RPG Fan 60/100

« I was honestly really let down by The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince, but it's not a terrible experience by any means. The artwork is really gorgeous and with a bit more work and in a different medium, I think the story can be enjoyed by many. As it is now, though, Liar Princess is an easily forgettable experience. As an experiment from Nippon Ichi, it's definitely different and more appealing than some of their other properties, but even style can't hide a lacklustre and undemanding bore. »

« I LOVE THIS GAME. This game left me with a deep impression of the way the story, world, and characters are built. No character is completely good, nor is any character completely bad. Each character has a different ideal, emotional development, and when you put yourself in the character's perspective, you will experience indescribable emotions. It's sad that this game is a bit short, I'm really curious about the story after that, about the forest, the witch, the kingdom. 10/10 »

« Remind me a lot of folk tale story.good game to play :D fun and unforgotable »

« Story influences - The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek + werewolf mythology + story and mechanics copied from Ico. It still felt right even though I was very conscious of it as a hodgepodge of influences. Gameplay - puzzles and platforming get moderately challenging and the final boss is decent too. Aesthetics - Pretty and a good soundtrack. If you like puzzle-platformer games and fairy tales, I highly recommend this. »

« This game has such a beautiful artstyle, the music and atmosphere is also beautiful. The gameplay is fun too, but this game is more about taking in the atmosphere. Graphics: 10/10 Music: 9/10 Sound Effects: 10/10 Content: 8/10 Controls: 8/10 Fun: 8/10 Level Design: 8/10 Story: 10/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Replay Value: 8/10 TOTAL: 88/100 (Highly Recommended!) »

« A cute little something to pass the time. Decent story, soundtrack and art style. Bad value proposition, though. Difficult to justify a $20 price tag for such little content. »

« A fun puzzle game with a gripping and captivating story. I believe the low scored reviews are from those who gloss over the fact that the game is driven by its story, and less by intensive gameplay. It is a casual, semi-complicated puzzle game that gets easier as you continue to play. Perhaps some may call it repetitive, but to an extent, all games are. The story, in addition the the beautiful art, are huge reasons why one should play this game. Don’t knock the game until you try it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. »

« It was nice, charming adventure ️ I can't say that whole game is good, there is some issues with lvl design, music after menu theme is awful (not every track, like 50/50), levels are challenging, some interesting mechanics here... After some time I'm tired of walkthrough and kept skipping levels one after another, but in the post end I couldn't hold back tears. Story is quite original, soulful and really non-standard. If this game came under Visual Novel genre, I've been post 10/10, but we have what we have now. I really glad that add "skip level" feature, but ofc u need to wait around ten minutes everytime... »

« Gorgeous visuals but horrible gameplay; in fact so horrible they included a skip function so you can just enjoy the story. The caveat? You can’t skip until 10 min has passed each stage. Instead of playing this game and watching a children’s book story that should have stayed in book format - I would REALLY like to see a making of this game to understand HOW and WHY it came to be. :) Looking forward to more of these cute games if they get a greater budget and take more inspiration from Western indie titles. »
