The Last of Us, développé par Naughty Dog et publié par Sony Computer Entertainment, est sorti sur PlayStation 3 le 14 juin 2013. Ce jeu d'action-aventure et de tir en vue à la troisième personne se déroule dans une Amérique post-apocalyptique ravagée par un champignon parasite du genre Cordyceps transformant les humains en hôtes cannibales. Vingt ans après l'apparition de cette infection, Joel, un Texan marqué par un passé familial tragique, doit faire passer clandestinement Ellie, une adolescente de quatorze ans, jusqu'aux Fireflies, une milice, en évitant autorités mortelles, infectés et survivants violents. Le joueur alterne exploration, discrétion et combat contre créatures et ennemis humains à travers divers environnements, dans une campagne solo narrative doublée d'un mode multijoueur en ligne compétitif nommé Factions, avec trophées et du contenu téléchargeable vendu séparément. La durée de la campagne principale est estimée à quinze heures et à vingt-trois heures pour une approche complétionniste. Eurogamer Italy a salué le titre comme représentant la maturité de la PlayStation 3 et une fusion réussie, tandis qu'Eurogamer Portugal a souligné qu'il s'agit d'un véritable exemple de jeu, sans trancher sur le titre de meilleur jeu de génération. Plusieurs joueurs sur Metacritic ont quant à eux exprimé leur enthousiasme, qualifiant l'œuvre de meilleur jeu de l'histoire au scénario exceptionnel ou de jeu incontournable. L'ensemble affiche une note agrégée de 92,26.

On the plus side, I find it pretty amusing when you're in stealth sections, and your partner runs around out of cover, directly in front of the goons, somehow remaining undetected. Where can I get that invisibility powerup? Because I hate stealth. »

« Uma belíssima história sobre dor, amor, perda, sobrevivência e em principal a Humanidade.A História, os gráficos, os personagens, a trilha sonora, a ambientação, a direção de arte, a jogabilidade, a dublagem, o áudio, são extraordinários, um dos melhores jogos da história, uma perfeição em forma de jogo, os personagens são extremamente bem construídos, carismáticos, cheios de personalidade e marcantes, mesmo com alguns deles tendo pouco tempo de tela, mas é o suficiente para deixarem um legado por anos. Joel Miller é um dos melhores protagonistas dos games, e tem uma construção excelente do começo ao fim do jogo, o mesmo vale pra Ellie e outros personagens que conhecemos durante o jogo. Para mim o segundo melhor jogo da história, só fica atrás de sua sequência (The Last of Us Part ll). Nunca vi um jogo retratar de uma forma tão densa e tão emocionante quanto TLOU1 e TLOU2 conseguiram retratar uma história de Caos, amor, ódio, dor, tristeza, perdas, humanidade e tudo que se pode encontrar em um apocalipse, é simplesmente uma perfeição dos jogos e das histórias fictícias de fim de mundo pós apocalíptico. É um jogo sensacional, e além de impactante é super imersivo e realmente único, você realmente se sente na pele dos personagens e desse mundo Apocalíptico Cruel em que se passa o jogo, você começa de um jeito e termina de outro, toda a trama é envolvente e emocionante, a todo instante você quer saber mais e mais, quer ver o desenrolar dos personagens e de todo o mundo, se apega a história e aos personagens com uma facilidade absurda. The Last of Us é uma obra prima. »
