Introducing Slap Out Of It!
Hi everybody! We're Turbo Button, and we're excited to announce our new game: Slap Out Of It!Slap Out Of It! is a slap-and-solve adventure game that combines a slapstick comedy sandbox with the silly lateral thinking puzzles of classic point-and-clicks. We just revealed it in the Day of the Devs showcase at Summer Game Fest. Here's the trailer, narrated by your favorite video game Ben, Ben Starr:InspirationOur team took inspiration from a lot of different games and media when building Slap Out Of It! The initial concept was inspired by character-driven classic point-and-click adventure games such as Monkey Island, Sam & Max, and Grim Fandango, but with a greater emphasis on animation than dialogue. The comedy sandbox side uses a mix of wordplay, visual puns, and slapstick with inspirations ranging from games like Untitled Goose Game, Jazzpunk, and Thank Goodness You’re Here to spoof comedy shows or movies like Police Squad, Popstar, and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We're not using generative AI anywhere in our development process - so when you see something dumb in our game, you can be confident that it took days of work from real humans spending lots of effort to make it dumb as humanly possible. That's a form of comedy in itself, and we wouldn't have it any other way.Who is Turbo Button? Our studio is known for our VR games - we've been making them since 2015 - but this is our first time stepping away from VR entirely, so it’s the first time a lot of you are seeing us! We’re a tiny indie team that develops comedy games that make you think and laugh at the same time.Slap Out Of It! builds on our past work, and is adapted from and inspired by our most popular VR game series. It's got all new mechanics and tons of new surprises, so even fans who played our VR games will have plenty to discover here too. It will be coming to PC and console platforms in 2027. And yes, it'll work great on Steam Deck too,Thank You!Whether you've been playing our games for the past decade or you're just finding us now, we're thrilled to have you along for this ride and appreciate your time. We are a very small team, and we'll be busy at Summer Game Fest in Los Angeles this weekend giving hands-on demos to press and content creators, so response time to comments may be a little delayed until next week. We will respond as soon as we can! In the meantime, it'd be a huge help to us if you wishlist the game and follow us on Bluesky or Discord to keep up to date on future announcements. Thank you!!Love,Holden, Nic, Ralph, and Nathan - the Turbo Button team
