Description (IGDB)

The world is in peril as forces, both good and evil, make a play for the powerful Chaos Emeralds. In Shadow the Hedgehog, you can control Shadow and choose which side to fight for. This 3D platformer lets you use weapons, vehicles, environmental objects, and time and space manipulation to combat your foes. Although it is a 3D platform game as with the more recent Sonic Adventure games, the game's levels each feature up to three different missions (Hero, Dark, Normal) that the player may choose to complete. The game's plot depends on which mission is completed as well as subsequent playable levels. The game stars Shadow the Hedgehog and his quest to recover his memory, a goal he has been pursuing since his debut in Sonic Adventure 2, while an evil alien race known as the Black Arms is invading the planet.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Play Magazine 75/100

« I narrowly recommend it for series die-hard, unless it keeps you from buying "Rush", in which case you should opt for your DS all the way. [Dec 2005, p.58] »

Game Over Online 70/100

« Shadow the Hedgehog has a couple good ideas that are ruined by sorry gameplay. What happened? »

BonusStage 60/100

« A monumental letdown, no ifs, ands or buts about it. »

IC-Games 53/100

« The magic of the 2D versions have all but been lost in a search for technical accomplishment and it suffers terribly for it. »

Electronic Gaming Monthly 52/100

« This premise would still be stupid even if Shadow didn't suffer from slowdown issues, a nonexistent lock-on system, a horrible camera, and bottomless pits in which to fall. But it does, and it is stupid--just like this is a stupid way to spend 50 bucks. »

Just RPG 52/100

« The ability to choose your own destiny in Shadow the Hedgehog is cool, but much of that is overshadowed by the problems with the camera, controls, targeting, and so on. »

Cheat Code Central 50/100

« Unlike last years popular and more importantly, playable, "Sonic Heroes," Shadow The Hedgehog is a misstep in almost every direction. »

Total Video Games 50/100

« As a long-term Sonic fan Shadow the Hedgehog fills me with absolute dread and disdain; it’s an abysmal game that manages to expand upon the issues of previous Sonic games, whilst completing negating the core ingredients of the Sonic series. »

« Probably the worst game I've ever played, it has NO redeeming qualities, a failure from start to finish. This isn't even a "funny bad" compared to other titles like 06 or Sonic 1's GBA port, this one's just a bad bad. »

SonicSweeps79 7/10

« Shadow the Hedgehog is an ambitious attempt to mature the series’ identity, trading the bright, optimistic "blue sky" aesthetic for a darker, more urban atmosphere. While the concept of a branching narrative driven by player choice is a fascinating direction for a 3D platformer, the execution often feels at odds with the high-speed physics the franchise is known for. The introduction of firearms and combat vehicles adds a layer of complexity that, unfortunately, tends to break the sense of momentum rather than enhancing **** level design features some visually striking environments, from the rain-slicked streets of Westopolis to the high-tech corridors of the ARK, but navigating them can be a chore. The mission-based structure requires players to hunt down specific enemies or items to progress, which frequently leads to tedious backtracking and a complete halt of the fast-paced gameplay fans expect. This shift toward combat-heavy objectives highlights the game’s clunky targeting system and slippery physics, making precise platforming and gunplay feel more frustrating than rewarding. Shadow deserved more of their gameplay improvement »

« underrated game. sure, it has its flaws, but is overall pretty fun if you know how to play it right. if you're expecting a sonic game, you'll be disappointed. it's a spin-off. you've gotta play it for what it is. »

Declan_SI 8/10

« Shadow The Hedgehog caps off the narrative focus on Shadow and the events of 50 years ago, leaning into the melodrama and seriousness that makes Shadow so likable for many. While it’s route structure storytelling can seem very confusing and lead to bizarre jumps in stakes and character dynamics, it’s through this that the game’s replay ability shines most, going as far to name each possible story with unique titles. Despite it’s “choose your own adventure” story style, there are select stories that can be played to gain the closest to a “canon story” that does help provide focus before the final act. Gunplay and overall movement is pretty good, providing very fun gameplay that rewards exploration. Especially with some mechanics, this game isn’t about going fast, but taking your time and lining your shots (and homing attacks). It isn’t perfect, but as a side title, it’s still very fun. »

« Idk why people got a issue of this To me: soundtrack is awesome, story is good(now with shadow generations), the choose your path, love it. Controls are sensitive but i can handle it. I love the fact they used beside all new characters they use the sonic x va's so their ya go. And while guns and vehicles are cheesy and "oh super edgy". That intro did not need to go that hard. The only issue i have is to experience the finale of this game. Its gotta pull a damn mario lost level, 10 game endings, 71 total a grades. Yeah. Maybe across next 20 yrs sure »

Dungeon00X 5/10

« Shadow the Hedgehog: the most guiltless pleasure in video game history. I played this from beginning to end even with broken mechanics, poor control input and bad voice acting. The game is bad, nobody is denying that. But there is fun to be had with it, if you know where to look. »

« Incrível tenho nostalgia de jogar esse game adorava jogar no dolphin não importa o que pessoas dizem essa minha sincera opinião o jogo e bom »

sonic101 4/10

« This game is pretty bad, but i wouldn't call it the worst either. The story just makes shadow a super inconsistent and bipolar character and the branching story line amounts to nothing in the end with the last story being done like in previous 3D games. The gameplay can be fun when you're just getting to the goal ring, but once u gotta do a monotonous mission like destroying a amount of enemies, that's when it doesn't become fun. Funnily enough, the one thing people made fun of with this game, the gunplay, i actually kinda like. It's my preferred way to take out enemies, but that's also because both the homing attack and the spindash are unbelievably nerfed in this game. The music is ok, but not one of my favorites tbh. I am all of me and all hail shadow are the only ones i care about. Overall, pretty messy game, and a huge mistep from the adventure games and even heroes tbh. »
