Description (IGDB)

R.U.S.E is a one-of-a-kind real-time strategy game that allows players to bluff their enemies to lead their nation to victory, controlling the action using views that range seamlessly from the heart of the battlefield to the full theatre of war. Players will be plunged into the action thanks to the exclusive IRISZOOM engine which offers an intuitive interface that allows for smooth, rapid transitions from a birds-eye view of the entire conflict, down into the heat of the battle and vice versa. In R.U.S.E, your brain is your ultimate weapon as you fight a war of perception, where your ability to deceive and mislead your enemy determines success. A first in a strategy game, R.U.S.E reinvigorates the genre by using deception to give new-found depth to the gameplay.

Histoire (IGDB)

R.U.S.E. takes place during World War II. The game contains a single story arc, portrayed through the perspective of Joseph Sheridan of the United States Army. Sheridan, a Harvard dropout, joins the U.S Army and eventually assumes control of the First Armored Division. The game opens in 1945 as General Sheridan liberates Colditz Castle to free an undercover operative, code named Nightingale, who knows the identity of an Axis informer, code named Prometheus. Sheridan then reminisces to 1943 when he was a Major during the Allied North African campaign when leaked information led to devastating Allied losses at the Battle of Kasserine. Sheridan meets British intelligence officer Colonel Andrew Campbell, and working together, in spite of Sheridan's inept commanding officer General Weatherby, they are able to turn the tide of battle. Sheridan is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel for his efforts. In 1943, Sheridan takes part in the Battle of Monte Cassino, and while he disobeys Weatherby's direct orders to confuse German intelligence, Sheridan is able to push the Germans back and open up the road to Rome. Sheridan is promoted to General and meets Kate Garner, an attaché from the American War Office. At a victory party, Campbell remarks that the Germans are not fully defeated yet and that Sheridan is turning into Weatherby now that he has been promoted. In 1944, Sheridan is in command of US troops landing at Utah beach on D-Day, with Weatherby in command of Omaha beach. Sheridan is able to secure a beach head and defend it against counter-attacks despite Weatherby's inability to secure Sheridan's flank. The operation in Normandy is hampered by inaccurate information given to Campbell by the French resistance; this, along with remarks from Kate, strains Sheridan and Campbell's friendship. Later that year, Sheridan is placed in command of forces in Operation Market Garden, and Weatherby is discreetly placed in command of forces "in reserve". After an exchange between Campbell and Kate, Campbell remarks that he cannot offer the same "incentives" as Kate and states that he will request a transfer. Despite Kate's insistence that Joe has "outgrown" Campbell, Joe is still clearly bothered by the British Officer's departure. Despite deeply inaccurate information on Axis forces in the area, Sheridan is able to keep "The Highway to Hell" open. However the British forces at the final bridge to be secured are forced to surrender, thus ending Market Garden as a failure. Kate leaves for Washington D.C. for a new "promotion" leaving Joe feeling sorry for himself. Three months later Sheridan and Campbell meet on the Belgian front, and the two make amends, with Sheridan apologizing and telling Campbell that "he was right and that they should have listened to Campbell". With Campbell's help Sheridan manages to hold onto the key city of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. During the siege, General von Richtor, a German general who gave Sheridan much trouble in the past, personally requests Sheridan surrender. He reveals that the Germans have received orders not to take prisoners of war any more, but despite this, offers to guarantee the safety of Sheridan and his men if they surrender honorably. Sheridan refuses, only demanding to know how an honorable man like von Richtor could serve the Axis. After pushing back the German offensive Sheridan and Campbell interrogate General Von Richter upon capturing him. Learning that only the head of the German Intelligence Service, the Abwehr, Admiral Canaris, knew the identity of the spy Prometheus, but the Admiral had been arrested for plotting to kill Hitler. Returning to the present, Sheridan, Campbell and the undercover agent, Angie, head for Torgau on the Elbe to supposedly meet up with the Soviets. However, the meeting turns into a race to reach the secret weapons research facility in Torgau before the Russians do. In order to avoid a "diplomatic incident", Sheridan receives help from an unlikely ally: General Von Richtor, who also does not want the weapons to end up in Soviet hands. Under the cover of Von Richtor's German troops, Sheridan and his men reach the weapons facility in the Soviet zone and destroy it. In the process Sheridan learns Prometheus's is his former attaché Kate Garner. It is revealed that Kate had not only been giving intel to the Germans on the American forces but that she also had been giving intel to the Soviets on German weapon research. The weapons in question are long range V2 Rockets equipped with nuclear warheads. Despite having destroyed the research facility Sheridan learns that Kate had already moved several rockets to another location. Sheridan and Campbell prepare to attack Kate's base and destroy the weapons, but are forced to re-think their strategy when Joe receives a warning from Kate that she will use the V2 rockets if they continue to provoke her. Sheridans assures Kate that he won't back off, and Kate simply responds that Sheridan will be "rolled over by the modern world" as communism will be inevitably victorious. Good news arrives when the Soviet Government declares the 8th Guards Army (the branch of the Soviet military Kate was working with) is an extremist renegade faction and Allied Commander General Eisenhower orders a full scale assault on Kate's base. With the help of some newly developed nuclear equipped artillery, Sheridan manages to destroy Kate's base, destroying the German nuclear warheads and killing Kate in an atomic blast. At the end, Sheridan expresses his wish to take a vacation and see Europe "without the bullets".

  • Dissimuler l’information (silence radio, camouflage)

New Update: Hot Fix

This patch includes some important fixes Please note: this new version is not compatible with replays and saves from the previous version. To access them, use the compat-4 branch available via Steam: right-click R.U.S.E. > Properties > Betas. Unfortunately, R.U.S.E. does not support the backward compatibility technology we have implemented for our more recent games. We will need to create a Steam compatibility branch for most updates. Games Master UK 93/100

« "Quotation Forthcoming" »

MondoXbox 86/100

« A very good strategy game, probably the best available on console. A very usable control system and innovative gameplay mecanics make it a worth buy for every lover of this genre. »

XGN 85/100

« The singleplayer storyline is far from interesting but the awesome gameplay makes up for it. R.U.S.E. brings a fresh breeze into the RTS genre and strategists will have, without a doubt, tons of fun with this game. »

Game Over Online 85/100

« I'm hoping that with patches (and some more players) that most of those can be corrected, and the basic concept of the ruses is solid and very enjoyable. It really is an RTS that plays like no other, and it deserves a second look on that basis alone. »

3DJuegos 84/100

« This is a great and smart RTS experience that will definitely appeal to real time strategy gamers. Hardcore PC gamers may find this a little too simplistic in gameplay terms, but its amazing control, its refreshing concept and great on-line modes are really interesting options for console gamers. »

AceGamez 84/100

« The story might be forgettable, the cut scenes are unimpressive and the first few hours are extremely slow. Get over these faults however and Ruse reveals itself to be an intuitive, complex but nevertheless accessible experience. »

Xbox World 360 Magazine UK 83/100

« A smart (occasionally too smart) new take on strategy, teeming with ideas and features. »

Play.tm 82/100

« While the World War II setting has been done to death in countless games, RUSE's version is a strangely fresh take, although perhaps the game's biggest success is in crafting an RTS for the console that hasn't been diluted in any apparent way, elegantly transferring all of the PC's complicated commands to just a few buttons. »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

eagle262 6/10

« I would reccomend getting this game on PC. It is occasionally very fun but more often than not the X-box controls get in the way and interupt the flow of play. »

hellstorm901 9/10

« I really enjoyed playing this game. The singleplayer is interesting but the game really shines in its multiplayer especially if you can get couple friends together to play. Personally I enjoy versing the Artificial Intelligence in multiplayer with friends as it is very good at pushing you to the edge and forcing all of you to work together using your chosen nations strengths to cover each others weaknesses. This game formula is different for a strategy game when compared to other titles such as Command and Conquer which I happily welcomed. »

airborne17th 6/10

« This would of been a lot better as Turn Based Strategy. The presentation seems to cater towards TBS. The game has wierd controls and the whole ruse appeal falls apart as the startegies end up being just "gather up all your units and attack." It's not the worst RTS ever but it's just not good either. »

Zamtar 8/10

« Okay bad points first; The achievements are ridiculous like "play online with 4 friends in one match" I cant even find a single player on earth. so yeah multiplayer could have been better that includes co-op. That's all for bad points in my opinion. Good points; Excellent graphics and theme for the general layout and design of things, the game-play was equally good the menus and units do take a while to get used to however. Story; very good considering there is only about 15 minutes of cut scenes in the whole game very, very predictable tho duh. »

TheCowWentMooo 10/10

« R.U.S.E is a personal favorite of mine, considering I've spent so much time playing it. R.U.S.E, although feeling like it was made for the PC, still performs great on consoles, with very minor lag issues during very large battles. R.U.S.E also differs from many console RTS' and brings many new and exciting features, which include: - The ability for units to make use of the terrain (Eg, using forests to stay hidden, or hiding units in towns) - 6 different playable nations which include USA, UK, Germany and the USSR. - A filling campaign. Although the campaign is not it's strong point, it is helpful for beginners. - A Co-Op Operation mode where players can co-operatively or by themselves complete objectives, similar to the campaign. - LOTS of units, ranging from classics such as the Spitfire and the Sherman, and many unknown things like the MAUS or Calliope. The range of units in R.U.S.E is very good for a strategy game. All in all, R.U.S.E is a brilliant RTS game, and not to be missed by any strategy genre fan. »

LeThinkTank 10/10

« R.U.S.E may be the greatest strategy game available on console. It's smooth transition between eagle-eye view to the micro-management level make the game shine where it matters most. The strategy! With the clever use and design of Ruse Cards, players can finally and truly pull the wool over their opponents eyes. I've played this for a while now with my brother and we often get concerned when the game is played like a conventional RTS, because it usually means someone is trying to be sneaky and we just don't see it yet. In short this game is one of the few, if not the only RTS available that lets you outwit not out out-kill your opponent. If you enjoy playing RTS' on console, at the very least check this game out, and then buy it. Thank me later. »

HighwayUK 0/10

« I'm not even going to waste more time explaining why I hate this, it just plain **** in every possible way... i'd rather play C&C4 for the rest of my life than be subjected to this crap (yes it's THAT BAD). »

CorsairReviews 7/10

« Upon its announcement, I thought the normal "yeah sure another RTS which is going to fail on a console like the rest of '**** how wrong I was. This game works very well with its tabletop style battlefield. Navigating, selecting units and scale is all brilliant once you get the hang of it. A brilliant feature is the "zoom" which has really been thought out well. You can watch from a zoomed out pose where units appear as chips stacked upon each other or you can go right into the action and see each man ambushing enemies from a forest. Overall, a good steady game, not sure how long the glamour will last though... »
