Développé par Tarsier Studios, le studio à l'origine de Little Nightmares et Little Nightmares II, et édité par THQ Nordic, Reanimal est sorti le 13 février 2026 sur Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows et Xbox Series X/S. Ce jeu d'aventure et d'horreur, également classé dans la réflexion et le puzzle, propose une expérience jouable en solo comme en coopération, en ligne ou en local. L'intrigue suit un frère et une sœur confrontés à une version inondée et infernale de leur île natale, désormais peuplée de créatures hostiles, dans une quête pour retrouver leurs trois amis disparus.
L'histoire, décrite comme un voyage plus terrifiant que jamais par ses créateurs, place les deux orphelins face à un passé trouble dont les fragments inspirent le design des monstres et des personnages enfantins brisés qu'ils croisent. L'exploration se déroule à la fois à bord d'un bateau et à pied à travers un monde fragmenté, où le chemin principal ne constitue qu'une partie d'une narration disséminée dans des lieux mystérieux. Le gameplay repose sur l'entraide et l'intelligence pour survivre, structuré autour d'une caméra partagée et dirigée, conçue pour renforcer la sensation de claustrophobie et la tension permanente qui émane d'une atmosphère opaque, entre horreur et espoir de rédemption.
Techniquement, le titre s'appuie sur l'Unreal Engine 5 pour donner vie au style visuel caractéristique du studio, mettant en scène une multitude de nouvelles créatures sinistres. Côté contenu, l'aventure principale demande environ quatre heures et demie pour être bouclée, tandis qu'une approche complétionniste s'étend jusqu'à sept heures et demie. Une édition numérique de luxe est proposée, incluant un Season Pass donnant accès à trois chapitres en contenu additionnel ainsi que des masques exclusifs, le jeu de base étant affiché à 29,99 euros.
L'accueil critique a été généralement positif, le titre obtenant une note moyenne de 80 sur Metacritic et OpenCritic, avec un agrégat à 80,22. La presse a salué l'atmosphère, les graphismes et le son, Areajugones soulignant la capacité du studio à créer une terreur dérangeante sans recourir aux jump scares faciles, tandis que Gamer Social Club évoquait le sentiment d'un studio « unshackled » (délesté de ses chaînes) ayant bâti sur ses fondations. Du côté des joueurs, les retours mettent en avant la qualité de la formule coopérative et la direction artistique, certains notant toutefois que la recette Little Nightmares commence à s'essouffler sur des formats courts, sans pour autant gâcher le plaisir global.

« Reanimal did such a good job taking the Little Nightmare's formula and making something great. It's creepy, fun and has a fantastic story that continues to drag you along. Maybe its just me but I found a few times the game wasn't overly clear on what my objective was and I ended up running around for a few minutes before looking up what I needed to do to progress. Overall this is a must play for any Little Nightmare fan. »

« Played couch co-op with my 13-year-old son. Not a very long adventure, but one that remained exciting every minute. Throughout the game, you also keep wondering what it's all about, what the goal is, and where it's going. Not for a moment do you think you know. The atmosphere in the game is excellently done. Parts of the gameplay are innovative in a positive way. We didn't find the ending very clear, by the way. It could have been explained a bit more. (We had a 'normal ending') As far as I'm concerned, it's even better than Little Nightmares 1 and 2. We're both really looking forward to the sequel to the game. A solid 8.5 for this one, which I round up to an 8. #PhyscialGamesMatter »
« Tolles Koop Erlebnis mit packender Atmosphäre, nur die Story war mir etwas zu kryptisch. REANIMAL sprüht vor coolen Ideen und macht durchgehend Spaß, könnte aber mehr Rätsel vertragen. Mit ca. 6 Stunden Spielzeit war etwas kurz, aber hat sich auch nicht zu kurz angefühlt. Für mich empfehlenswert! :D »

While playing LN2, I couldn't help but think how fun the game would be with co-op, and Reanimal proves that was always the destination these talented creators wanted to reach. Like the previous works, this adventure game manages to maintain a feeling of creepiness without ever being truly scary. The dark imagery is always there as you explore disturbing settings and eerie creatures, but somehow it always feels light hearted. The story remains as cryptic as ever, and with the M rating, this team was able to take the elements they do best even further. Par to the course for this style, the runtime is incredibly short. If some titles fall into a category of 'weekend games,' then Reanimal is closer to a 'Saturday night' experience. Still, it is nonstop fun from beginning to end, and an excellent time to spend with a friend or a loved one. »
