Sorti le 6 août 1999 sur Nintendo 64, Rally Challenge 2000 est un jeu de course développé par Genki et Xicat Interactive, édité par SouthPeak Interactive. Le titre propose une expérience de rallye réaliste articulée autour de neuf véhicules distincts et de trois circuits, chacun jouable selon trois niveaux de difficulté. Un copilote accompagne le joueur en annonçant les virages et les obstacles à l'approche. La structure du jeu repose sur quatre modes : un mode Arcade accessible, un mode Versus permettant l'affrontement à quatre joueurs, un mode Entraînement et un mode Championnat, présenté comme la pièce maîtresse. Ce dernier offre une série de neuf courses où la gestion des points prime, tout en autorisant le réglage technique de la suspension, des pneus, des rapports de boîte et de la direction.
Du côté de la réception critique, les avis font état de qualités techniques entachées par un manque de finition. Happy Puppy regrette que les développeurs n'aient pas davantage poli le jeu avant sa sortie, estimant toutefois qu'il possède un « moteur de course vraiment sympa ». IGN juge quant à lui qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un « jeu misérable », soulignant que le brouillard excessif peut être contourné et que l'audio décevant peut être ignoré sans perte majeure. Les retours de joueurs sur Metacritic restent fragmentaires, l'un d'eux mentionnant n'avoir disputé qu'une seule course, insuffisant pour se forger un avis définitif sur le genre.

« So i wont lie i only played 1 race and that all i need to know from a game like this. Im not to big on racing games but that doesnt mean i dont like them i use to play nascar heat 2002 and a bunch other nascar games in the day but this game overall isnt to bad its just like every other rally sports game that i played. Graphics isnt to bad, gameplay and controls are solid for an N64 title, only thing i dont like is the way the races are set up. One mess up and you wont be in 1st or anything literally the first race in arcade i didnt damage much and i only got 7th. The game isnt forgiving for places i see. Overall not to bad but not fun either its boring and dull for a racing game »
« An unashamed rip-off of Sega Rally, it's not as much fun to play but has more cars and tracks on offer. The championship mode doesn't work half as well because the slightest damage or wear and tear on your car makes it unmanagably sluggish but it's worth it for the Arcade mode. »
