RPG Fan 97/100

« Overall, there is very little to fault Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk for. My time spent with the game was memorable, and many of the endings emotionally resonated with me. As far as otomes and visual novels go, Ashen Hawk is one of the best I've played in a long time. »

Gaming Age 83/100

« Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk succeeds as a visual novel generally and an otome specifically because it ignores its genre conventions in favour of telling a compelling story, with largely decent characters and enough content to keep you interested all the way to the end. I’m not sure what Aksys’ goal with the Summer of Mystery was, but if it was to showcase just how impressive and engaging the genre can be, I’d say it succeeded beyond any shadow of a doubt. »

PlayStation LifeStyle 70/100

« Once you get the decision-making ball rolling, it gets hard to put Ashen Hawk down. »

Playstation Official Magazine UK 70/100

« When the story kicks into gear, it's well worth the time as it's one of the most thrilling visual novels on the system. [Issue#152, p.90] »

« This game is actually really underrated. I don´t see anything wrong with it, even if it maybe don´t keep you interested all the time. But still the story is actually good, great characters, really good music, good romance (cause it´s a otome after all), and definitely not to much fanservice. Jed is a really good main character. Play it if you find it on sale, it´s worth it. »

Dynamitekitty 9/10

« Another great game from the psychedelica series! You can play Ashen Hawk without knowing the events in Black Butterfly but I would still suggest playing POBB first to catch more Easter eggs from the previous game. While the story might have a bit more plot holes in it compared to Black Butterfly, the characters were so enjoyable I could overlook the flaws in the writing. Jed is probably one of the most unique heroines I have ever seen in an otome game and would honestly just replay only for her. »

« After playing Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly and reading many reviews on Ashen Hawk, I must say that I wasn't very eager to try this game. That, though, started to change as soon as I hit the New Game. Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk is not your usual otome game, filled with fanservice and cutesy romance scenes with tons of choices to guide out the story outcome. Ashen Hawk focuses on telling a compelling story inside the world of Psychedelica, bringing out well written characters, beautifully made illustrations and a GREAT soundtrack. The game mechanics aren't really innovative, but it was a smart choice to keep the short-stories dynamic from Black Butterfly. It's easy to play, the voice actors did an amazing job and the protagonist quickly became one of my favourites to date. For me, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk succeeded in every aspect of the genre, but the strongest point surely is the story it tells. Completing 100% of this game gave me nothing but pleasure and I can only hope for new titles inside the Psychedelica scenario. »
