GamingTrend 90/100

« Planet Zoo is the culmination of the best parts of Frontier’s previous efforts, but is far more than the sum of its parts. Hundreds of creatures, both cute and deadly, need homes, and it’s up to you to help them thrive and survive. While a few bugs hamper the overall experience, this is another simulation game that’ll keep me building sprawling and ever evolving parks for hundreds of hours to come. »

DualShockers 90/100

« Planet Zoo is a complex and deep sim management title that’s carefully crafted to offer hours of meaningful and educational enjoyment. »

TheSixthAxis 90/100

« Planet Zoo is simply wonderful; a bright and breezy park builder that gushes with enthusiasm for its charges. There’s depth to spare here, pushing further than either of Frontier’s most recent management games have, and it leans into its own identity, with a keen eye for the importance of education, animal welfare and preservation. »

« Nearly flawless, Planet Zoo is a masterpiece of tycoon simulation, and is one of the most relaxing, engaging, and fantastical pieces of entertainment of 2019. It's a showcase of fun mechanics, and it really draws from the wealth of experience in Frontier Developments as a developer. It's impossible not to recommend this to anyone who has even a passing notion about the genre. Get this! »

« Planet Zoo is a new step in simulation games that is backed by a large community and has enormous potential for expansion. »

Worth Playing 87/100

« I suspect that many players will have an uneven time with Planet Zoo. At times, it's pretty straightforward and provides the player with plenty of feedback so they can improve their zoo. Other times, the game has you digging around in areas that are unnecessarily tough to figure out, with tutorials that barely touch on the feature (if at all). The thing with Planet Zoo is that it is so charming and appealing that the fun parts outweigh the frustrating ones. It's not a perfect game in the genre, but it is one of the best ones you can play right now. »

MGG 85/100

« Frontier succeeds in doing what we all wanted with Planet Zoo: to offer Planet Coaster's freedom of expression and creation, paired with a worthwhile management game. Icing on the cake, they also bring a game full of caring messages and pro-animal activism, contrasted with a cold observation about the capitalism involved in the animal rehabilitation. Despite some problems related to the construction or the interface, it's beautiful, it's complete, and we can spend dozens of hours perfecting our park or taking care of the sad little fur balls. »

« This is the best simulation game of all time. I have spent 100 hours on this game yet I feel like I just scratched the surface of the potential of this game. Even though you have to buy the DLCs during the sales or it's too expensive, the game stays very incredible. I loved it in every way. »

« Low effort and chill game allowing you to play around with your creativity. Weird mix between realistic animals and cartoon humans. Quite a bit of content in main game, but not a fan of DLC paywalls for minor content expansions. »

« (ENG) It is, without a doubt, one of the most satisfying and comprehensive management simulators I’ve ever played. The level of detail in representing animal behavior is impressive: each species has unique needs, from habitat requirements to social interaction, and watching them thrive in environments you design yourself is a deeply rewarding experience. You can customize enclosures, pathways, structures—even entire landscapes—giving every habitat you create a unique and personal touch. I also really appreciated the way education is handled: it’s not just about building cages, but about creating functional ecosystems, which gives the game real educational value. However, while the game is visually stunning, it can be demanding on performance—even for decent PCs—and at times it leaves you wanting more interactions or behaviors from the animals or their AI (though it’s already quite polished). With a score of 9, I consider Planet Zoo a gem in the simulation genre: addictive, immersive, and visually captivating—perfect for those who enjoy creating, planning, and caretaking, with a touch of environmental awareness. »

« I enjoy this game a lot but after a while, you use all the animals in the game and do everything you can they do have a lot of DLC at a fair price of usually 5 USD. You need to really play this game to actually have fun while playing the game it's not instant fun because it is quite hard to learn the basics »

« Just like Planet Coaster I love this game and have very similar thoughts. Super easy to build stuff. Good management mechanics without ever getting too much. Animal models look great! AND THE MUSIC!!! Just like Planet Coaster, there are a lot of DLC and buying them all can get pricey. (they are not too expensive so still very accessible and what they add is usually worth it). »

« The core of the game is really good. The building mechanics and the freedom you have to build your exhibits and park however you like. BUT frontier being frontier couldnt help but just push out "dlc" after dlc to give us BASIC animals that should be there from the get go... and a couple hundred building pieces. Also the performance is kinda trash. with a 3090 it starts stuttering and lagging like holy hell when the attendance in the zoo is over 2500 people. »

emmod190 9/10

« The game is excellent, I recommend it to everyone. I think it is one of the most beautiful games that you can hang out completely free and you can do. The reason I dropped a point is that there are too many dlc. It's boring to buy dlc sain to open wider animals or biomes. »

Tanooki_Leaf 8/10

« Probably best zoo building game so far, a lot of space for creativity, but that is kinda bad because you don't know where to start. Also some mechanics are weird like climbing, because of huge amount of ways animal can climb so it creates strange animations. Basegame roster is kind of lacking too, it mainly consists of african and asian ungulates and it is very underdeveloped in habitat non-mammals, there is no marsupials, rodents, penguins, xenathrans and many more animals in basegame. DLCs add a lot of building parts and animals but you need to pay like 10 dollars(more or less) for each one and there are 14,5 DLCs, but they become cheap at sale (Ultimate Edition gets -50%). Also main issue is that devs don't give community animals that are most wanted, even though given opportunity (for example, they could add secretary bird in arid pack). But generally game is pretty good and if you want new animals or new look for animal, you can use mods like remasters or new species mods on nexus »
