Order of War
Order of War
Description (IGDB)
In the summer of 1944, the Second World War entered its end-game when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once. Their names were Overlord and Bagration. Overlord famously commenced with the D-Day landings in Normandy and ended in the Liberation of Paris, while Bagration - a far less well-known but far larger Russian operation - crushed the invading German forces in the east, leading to their complete withdrawal from Soviet territory. Had either operation been unsuccessful, history could have been very different. In the ultimate test of military strategy, Order of War will challenge you not only to lead America's finest to victory in the west, but also place you in command of the German forces charged with repelling the Red Army's seemingly unstoppable offensive in the east. Even the keenest military minds will find that it's one thing to make history, but quite another to change it.

Memory fix update
Following our recent update adding Steam Cloud support for Order of War, we were contacted by a member of the original development team regarding an issue with “out of memory” crashes on more modern operating systems. We’re pleased to share that we’ve worked with them to develop a potential fix for this issue. To ensure a smooth rollout, this fix has been made available via an open Beta Branch, meaning users must manually opt in to access the updated version. If you would like to opt into the Beta Branch, please do so via the Steam Client:· Right-click Order of War in your library and select Properties· Navigate to Game Versions & Betas· Select the “memory_fix” optionThe update will then be applied to your installation. This fix has been tested with existing save data and is expected to be compatible. However, we cannot guarantee it will behave perfectly in all cases, which is why it is currently offered as an optional (opt-in) update rather than being rolled out to all users.
Steam Cloud Support
As part of our ongoing efforts to celebrate and enhance the Square Enix back catalogue, we’re reviewing a number of classic titles to see where we can introduce modern quality of life improvements. We recently rolled out Steam Cloud Support for Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause 3 with great success, and we’re pleased to share that this work has now been extended to Order of War, which is available today with full Steam Cloud support functionality. While this update currently applies to a select number of titles, we’re continuing to explore opportunities to expand these enhancements across more of the Square Enix catalogue over time.If you experience any issues with this update, please let us know via the Steam Community Hub, or reach out to Customer Support.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« While it does have a few shortcomings (mostly in the pacing), Wargaming.net really has a lot to build on with Order of War, and I would be thrilled to see a follow up -- perhaps even one taking place in the Pacific Theatre. »
« A stunning game. Whether you're a hardened RTS veteran, an anxious newcomer looking for a fun entry point to the genre, or just someone who loves colossal action in a World War II setting, you owe it to yourself to give Order of War a shot. »
« While you won't find much innovation, Order of War is a well crafted RTS game. The lack of satisfying multiplayer is disappointing but the single player game is rewarding enough to keep you coming back for more. »
« Great mechanics and a beautiful presentation make Order of War shine brightly among some incredible WWII strategy games. Anyone who enjoys the genre should give this one a shot. »
« Order of War is a good game. Not a great game, but a good one. It doesn’t bring anything revolutionary to the table, but it still offers a fun, quick and friendly romp into war-torn Europe. »
« Hardened RTS players may feel a little disappointed by the relative simplicity of the title and the fact that even on the hard difficulty level it isn't as challenging as many other RTS games. But for the average user, it is perfectly pitched. »
« This isn’t a bad strategy game by any measure – it delivers some solid missions, along with cinematic action and decent graphical performance. But after so many games using World War II as a setting, more of a personal connection to the narrative of the time would have been nice. »
« Competent WW2 -version of World in Conflict, camera controls could use some extra freedom. But when gameplay is simplified, it must be compensated with gorgeous graphics and interesting story, as WiC did. And Order of War is truly lame name. [Nov 2010] »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« Well, this is a very weal RTS, i have played a lot, COH2, COH1, Steel Divison, Wargame series, Men Of War and oh boy, Order Of War, is weak, very weak, lack of information, icons, and commands that you can give, make it hard to play seriously as a RTS of heaviness. »
« It's like if you took World in Conflict, and mixed it with Blitzkrieg and then took all the strategy out of the mix, it’s just disappointing. It’s like all the ingredients are there but it really just devolves into unit spam (select all units attack) over and over and that’s about it. There are no special abilities, no retreating for your units, or reinforcing/repairing your damaged units. All the units can do is attack and with units and unit cards so small good luck seeing them. With the games cinematic camera mode though, it's like it was supposed to be like an interactive battle movie simulator. »
« Online servers were shut down as of September 1st 2013. Do not buy if you intent to play Multiplayer. Repeat. Online servers have been shut down and won't be coming back up. Do not purchase if you intend to play against other players. »
« This game is something I have been waiting for, I overlooked it because its review was average even though it deserves a lot more than it got. This game has lots of beautiful destruction that lots of other games overlook. If anything this games gets you as close to WW2 as possible in terms of a RTS. The survival mode is nice and I just love the complete carnage on bridge battles. I would defiantly recommend this game, it has good replay value and multiplayer is a beast. You can not beat $7.99 for a games that's this good on steam. Some people say this game is like your average RTS point and click but what RTS isn't,its a great game get it and good luck. »
