Ce jeu d'action à moto issu de la série Hyperdimension Neptunia met en scène Uzume et les quatre Déesses affrontant l'armée des Dogoos à bord de leurs deux-roues, dans un univers distinct de Gamindustri où une motarde solitaire explore un monde mystérieux menacé d'être englouti par d'innombrables créatures, afin d'en trouver la sortie. Classé dans le genre course et proposé au prix de 38,99 euros, le titre propose six personnages jouables évoluant à travers quinze niveaux pour collecter et soigner les Dogoos, avec des mécaniques de chasse, de lancers de créatures aux effets variés et une personnalisation de la moto influant sur défense, vitesse et maniabilité.
L'accueil critique s'est révélé mitigé, avec une note agrégée de 60. La presse a salué certains aspects, Video Chums évoquant un jeu amusant au gameplay divertissant et Cubed3 jugeant son récit humoristique susceptible d'attirer de nouveaux venus, tandis que des joueurs sur Metacritic regrettent une expérience peu captivante malgré l'innovation course et combat, et d'autres sur Steam, au contraire, ont trouvé le gameplay plutôt cool et fun.

« There are a few good things about Neptunia Riders vs. Dogoos. The silly story provides a good vehicle for the shenanigans of Nep Nep and her friends, and going for a completely different genre is always a welcome move. It would've been nice if the game were actually good in every other area. The gameplay loop is far from exciting, especially since it gets very repetitive rather quickly, and the graphical presentation is terrible when you consider the hardware the game is running on. This is also a painfully short experience without any multiplayer capabilities, despite the format being perfect for team or versus play. Unless you're in the habit of collecting every Neptunia-related game, stay away from this title. »

To that crowd, shining moments of straightforward gameplay and satisfying voice acting do exist between these outbursts, making it apparent that there are components worth salvaging here. For a deep sale, perhaps the most devout fans of the Neptunia series will find the silver lining of this underwhelming spinoff worth enduring. For me, there is no fuel left in this ride. »
