Need for Speed: Underground Rivals
Need for Speed: Underground Rivals

« The racing here is just flat-out fun, with growling engines, jumps and shortcuts that allow you to smash through fences. But there are thoughtful additions, including Party Play. »
« NFSUR's down 'n' dirty street racing complements "Ridge Racer's" arcadey day-glo driving perfectly. [GamesMaster] »
« It doesn’t play quite as well as the two other racing big guns, but it’s easily just as entertaining and probably has the strongest lasting appeal. »
« With the PSP's powerful graphics processor, the images in the game look stunning throughout and playing with this gadget really does feel like taking your PS2 with you on the move. »
« After all of gaming sessions with NFSU Rivals, I always found myself going back to "Ridge Racers." Rivals’ controls could use a little bit of work along with how the cars look. »
« The gameplay, cars, and tracks are new and offer a fresh take on an awesome series. »
« The PSP's analog nub also works well here with just the right balance of sensitivity and full range of motion, from tiny course-correcting nudges to hand over fist power-sliding. »
« The big feature missing, which also made Underground innovative, is the ability to draft other cars. Without it, Rivals is just another racing game. Additionally, the Drift mode, which was addictively fun on the consoles, is now water downed to a flat, frustrating way of trying to skid your car in an unfashionable manner. »

« Need For Speed Underground Rivals is a great and worthy spinoff of the Underground games. You have everything here and accounted for: circuit and knockout events, drift, drag and street cross events, as well as some new event types like Rally Relay, Nitro Run and Car Spec races. There is a good amount of cars here (24 in total) with high tuning potential for all of them. The customisation is awesome and it's the best out of all the PSP entries of the series. You can customise everything, from the body kits, spoilers, hoods, roof scoops, headlights, neons, window tints, decals, vinyls... it's amazing! Loved the customisation in this game. There are not a lot of circuit tracks here, only 10 in total, but they look great! There are also unique circuits in Street Cross events and drag strips for drag racing, which are a nice shake up from the usual 10 tracks in the other game modes (8 of them being used in the career mode progression). The graphics are very good for a launch title. The overall presentation is very solid. The menus look cool and the soundtrack is taken from Underground 2, with a few more songs added in. As for the career mode, it's split into two parts: "Circuit Race" and "Quick Play Battle". I love how open it is, in the sense that you can choose to play any events you want at any time. The variety of event types you can participate in is awesome, as I listed them above, and if you are getting bored of an event type, you can participate in another. The game is fun to play, however I have one issue with the progression. To get gold medals on every event type in all series of the "Circuit Race" and "Quick Play Battle" portions of the career, you have to play each event 3 times. Once for bronze, once for silver and once again for gold. There is not an option to do the races only for the gold medals (basically the hardest difficulty). This has the unfortunate effect of 100%ing the game very repetitive. You basically play the game three times over in one playthough because you can't get the gold medals in one go for each event. For me it became quite monotonous towards the end. More circuit tracks would've helped with shaking off some of the monotony. But those are my only complaints. In conclusion, Need for Speed Underground Rivals is an awesome game and a great option for anyone that wants to try a Need for Speed PSP game! :D »
« It was nice to get a port over from need for speed underground 1 on psp with that being said this took me away from enjoying the game As I owned and played the original copy on ps2 still really fun game »
« The graphics are very beautiful, the soundtrack is sensational, the game starts extremely well and is addictive, I was really enjoying it, but it only lasts until about half way through, somewhere between 30~40%, which is when I finally acquired your fastest car (any of the last), and you're already in the most difficult races, from then on the game becomes extremely repetitive, with unfair races, absurd difficulty, aggressive bots with cars that run as fast as yours, but they practically don't make mistakes, the races become extremely large, the championships unbearable, the combination of camera + low resolution + framerate + gameplay makes traffic extremely irritating, you crash, but not your enemies. If you've already started, it's not worth finishing, if you haven't started, don't even start. »
« Good car selection, tuning, handling and graphics. Amazing soundtrack because it‘s from NFSU2. But the progressing is very strange and the game is way too long if you consider to win all the races. It needed more content in terms of cars and track or at least less races but as it is the progressing is not good. »
« Melhor NFS do PSP, altas horas jogando, bate uma nostalgia só de lembrar do jogo »
« First porting for PSP and still and awesome work: lot of customisations and many modes to play. It combines many great things between the 2 Underground, adding too some extra music and new cars. Top 5 racing games for PSP »
« A great game for street racing type games! Has lots of customization, cars (mostly tuners and a couple of muscle cars), and overall a fun game to have. »
« I will not rate this game as high as the other users. Though, it is a great game with great graphics, nice controls and diversity with its features....... »
