Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

« Between its ripping sense of speed, edge-of-the-seat gameplay, and impressively original and deep features, [its] glorious PS2 debut just smokes. »
« Hot Pursuit not only gives you the keys to more than 20 exotic cars, it also gives you the unsurpassed joy of leaving traffic cops in the dust. »
« Brings together all the best bits from every other driving game of the past five years. [A+; Nov 2002, p.64] »
« Has everything I've ever wanted from a sports car racing game: Cool rides, some of the best engine noises ever committed to a gaming sountrack and most importantly, a sense of incredible speed and power. [Nov 2002, p.186] »
« From the second that they catch you in their radar, these boys are all over you like white on rice and these guys are not afraid of trading paint to put you into a guardrail or two. Just getting through the course without getting pinched is an accomplishment in itself. »
« The soundtrack is exceptional, offering rock and techno play-lists, and a fully customizable jukebox feature letting you filter any tunes or even whole genres however you like. »
« One of the most wicked arcade-racing games I've ever played. [Nov 2002, p.284] »
« Very few racing games in the past few years have actually been thoroughly invigorating, and this title comes through in the clutch to deliver a singular racing experience that is nearly unmatched. »

« This game laid the foundations for many great NFS games that came out after it and it managed to be really fun despite a few little downfalls. First off the car and track selections are amazing, although the races do drag on for way too long. AI is kinda wonky sometimes too. The racing feels really nice and having the shortcuts is a really nice addition to the tracks and make races a breeze if you can nail them down perfectly. Im feeling kind of split on the police, when the conditions are right, police chases make for incredible and very tense setpieces, but when things go wrong it feels like you're getting drowned and trying to barely get gasps of air while getting doused in red and blue lights »
« "Hot Pursuit 2" is the first really great "Need for Speed" game. It features a superb selection of cars, good graphics and a superb sense of speed. The single player mode is divided into two campaigns: racing and chasing. As a cop, you have high tech gadgets to bring a stop to the race cars. And as a racer, you must outrun the police and win challenges. In addition to single player, you can compete with fellow players in split-screen. Overall, I would rate this with an 8.5 out 10. »
« Innovative and enthralling, this game laid the foundation to what we now know and love as Need for Speed. »

« A sequel to a PS1 game, "Hot Pursuit 2" is an exhilarating and addictive racer. It's one of the best entries in the series. The selection of cars is superb, the graphics are terrific and the sense of speed is awesome. Single player mode is divided into two campaigns: racing and chasing. As a cop, you're given tools to bring a stop to the race car drivers. And as a racer, you must outrun the police and win challenges. In addition to the single player mode, you can compete with fellow players in split-screen. Overall, I would rate this with an 8.7 out 10. »
