Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

GamePro 95/100

« Carbon almost always manages to feel as finely tuned as any of its high performance sleds, and with downloadable content on the way, it seems safe to think that it'll be an adrenaline generating favorite for a good long while. »

Kombo 88/100

« So close to being a legendary entry to the NFS series but crew racing hampers it down. AI should never win a race for a player. »

Game Chronicles 88/100

« Carbon is another great racing game for the 360 and it’s awesome to think that in just one year our beloved console has already seen two of these games. »

PGNx Media 87/100

« It’s a shame that EA decided to drop the intense cop chases from Most Wanted. Carbon is still a very addicting game even though the drift races don’t work quite as well as they should. »

Cheat Code Central 86/100

« By allowing gamers to adjust nearly everything on their car, from the width of the spoiler to the height of the blower on that ’69 Charger, Carbon allows gamers to truly make their ride their own. »

Game Informer 85/100

« The city’s sections felt too similar to each other. I admit, I don’t have all the answers on making a perfect open-world racing title, but Carbon falls short in this area. Don’t worry though, the speed in this game is enough to outrun such criticisms. »

MS Xbox World 85/100

« The story element whilst interesting did feel very pantomime to me as a lot of hard talking was uttered during the cinematic moments and I often felt that these hard talking people would probably be better off bringing out shotguns and Uzis rather than taking to the streets to settle differences. »

Pelit (Finland) 84/100

« Need for Speed Carbon has fast and furious races. Tuning is fun, but it does not have much of an effect on racing. [Dec 2006, p.82] »

« Melhor need for speed joguei esse jogo tanto que virou meu need for speed favorito e pra mim o segundo melhor jogo de carro da história »

Veado123 8/10

« Esse jogo é muito bom, porem só não do 10 pois não tem tantas customizações visuais e as corridas com is Boses na montanha são muitos difíceis »

« Carbon finishes off the golden era of Need for Speed (composed by Underground 1 and 2, Most Wanted, and this game). Istead of being a direct sequeal to Most Wanted in terms of gameplay, Carbon tries a lot of new stuff, which is what makes this game so special. Canyon races and duels are very tence because of the atmosphere and music. Speaking of the duels specifically, they are incredible events, with alot of risk and reward elements. Car classes (Tuners, Muscles, and Exotics) are also introduced, with each one having their own ups and downs. This mechanic allows for different playstyles, and depending on which class you start with, the place where you start racing and things you unlock are different, upping tremendously the replay value. Another new mechanic is the crew. You are going to create a team and recruit crew members along the way. Each have one of the three main skills that can be used during a race (Blocker, Drafter, or Scout) and 2 passive abilities. This new mechanic is so cool and unique, adding an extra layer of strategie to the game. Other interesting things includes drift events (with very fun drift physics), Reward Cards (the game´s achieviment system where you can unlock stuff) and Autosculpt (a customization option that allows you to create your own parts). In terms of story, it has a darker tone. While i do have some problems with it (specially the ending), there are a lot of cool characters, and the premisse is interesting. In terms of content, the Carrer mode is short, but it has a lot of replay value because of the class choice and the game´s structure overall (as well as reward cards). My Cars, Challange Series, and Quick Race return from the previous games. My Cars is the same thing as always, Challange Series has less events but more variety, and Quick Race now tracks the events you have beaten. I will not consider the online for this review because the servers have been shut down in 2021 and i never played the online, but it has some exclusive events and unlockbles. My only real issue with this game is that it was rushed. Some content was cutten of because of the many different versions the teams had to develop at the same time, alongside EA thenselves, of course. I will now respond to some of the criticism the game usually gets... - "Cops don´t serve a purpose anymore" Yes, they do. Pursuits can unlock reward cards and cops add addtional obstacle to races. - "Free Roam doesn´t serve a purpose anymore" Yes, it does. Crew challanges that can give you money, and pursuits that can give you reward cards, as well as being able to test your tunning. - "The game is way to easy" High difficulty is not necessarily something good. Gamers need to understand that not everyone is a pro gamer. I decided to write this long review because most people just compare Carbon to Most Wanted and miss out everything that makes this game so good. It does help that it was the first real videogame i have ever played, in 2010 (before that, i only played Super Mario flash games). However, i acknowledge the gamer ins´t perfect. »
