L'intrigue se déroule dans le pays fictif sud-américain de Solis, un monde ouvert de 1024 kilomètres carrés composé de forêts tropicales, de déserts et de cimes enneigées, où Rico Rodriguez affronte la Main Noire, une organisation militaire privée dirigée par Gabriela Morales, et découvre la vérité sur le passé de son père. Le titre introduit des événements météorologiques extrêmes tels que des tornades et des orages tropicaux, exploitables grâce à un moteur physique inédit, et propose un grappin entièrement personnalisable ainsi qu'une wingsuit pour traverser les biomes. Fonctionnant sur l'Apex Engine avec la protection Denuvo, le jeu affiche un temps de completion de 16 heures pour l'histoire principale et 55 heures pour le profil complétiste, avec des scores agrégés de 68 sur Metacritic et OpenCritic et une note moyenne de 67,95. La presse a salué l'aspect « creative destruction » amélioré et la suppression de la plupart du grind par rapport à l'opus précédent, tandis que certains joueurs regrettent des baisses de performance en jeu ou quelques bugs, tout en appréciant la map massive et le plaisir de incarner Rico Rodriguez.

Карта с маштабная и с кучу разрешениями, кучу нпс с машинами, красивыми локациями, забавная физика машин, ради которой я сбиваю машины или прокалываю колёса. Так же в этой игре очень крутые способы передвижения с помощью крюк-кошки и висьюинг, по которым очень удобно и быстро перемещаться по всей карте. честно говоря, Just cause 4 это очень потрясающая игра, даже не смотря на то, что она хуже прошлой части, но ради новых возможностей, можно и закрыть глаза, 10/10 »
« It's... a good game, to be honest. The map is absolutely massive and beautiful, with multiple scenarios, weather conditions, natural disasters and biomes. Get at a high altitude and cruising the skies with the wingsuit is a very cinematic experience. Albeit, the game mechanics are certainly lacking. Most of the missions are centered towards upgrading Rico's grapper, but the entire Army of Chaos ordeal feels forgotten since there's not much we can do with it at it's core. It would be interesting to see a dynamic system where as you progress in the game the Army would grow stronger. Most of the missions with the Army (such as the training ones) are just filler and don't actually help them in any way. »
« 8.1/10 Just Cause 4 expands the formula with extreme weather systems and enhanced gadgets that add variety to the sandbox. The map is diverse and visually striking, offering plenty of ways to experiment with chaos. However, weaker mission design and less satisfying destruction compared to previous entries hold it back. While it’s still fun to explore and cause mayhem, it lacks the same impact as its predecessor. »
