God of War III
God of War III, développé par SCE Santa Monica Studio et édité par Sony Computer Entertainment, est sorti le 16 mars 2010 sur PlayStation 3. Ce jeu d'aventure et de hack 'n' slash se joue en solo et met le joueur dans la peau de Kratos, ancien guerrier spartiate cherchant à se venger des dieux de l'Olympe au sein d'un univers inspiré de la mythologie grecque. L'intrigue débute directement après les événements de God of War II, alors que Kratos conduit une armée de Titans contre les Olympiens, affrontant notamment Poseidon dont la chute provoque un cataclysme mondial. Le titre s'appuie sur un nouveau moteur de jeu offrant des combats à grande échelle, des personnages réalistes et des énigmes au fil d'une quête menant des hauteurs de l'Olympe aux profondeurs des enfers. La durée de la campagne principale est estimée à dix heures, contre environ dix-huit heures et demie pour une approche complétiste.
L'accueil critique a été globalement très favorable, avec une note moyenne agrégée de 91,09. Playstation: The Official Magazine a salué un jeu « beau, sanglant et brillant, sans être parfait », tandis que 1UP a relevé que God of War III apparaissait comme l'épisode le plus équilibré et varié de la série. Du côté des joueurs, certains ont noté sur Metacritic que le gameplay montrait quelques signes de vieillissement tout en restant très satisfaisant, et d'autres ont apprécié la narration et la brutalité du combat mais ont trouvé les animations faciales des cinématiques étranges.
