Forager, développé par Hop Frog et édité par Humble Games et Humble Bundle, est sorti le 18 avril 2019. Ce jeu en open-world 2D, réalisé avec le moteur GameMaker, mêle exploration, agriculture et crafting dans la lignée de Stardew Valley, Terraria et Zelda. Les joueurs débutent avec une petite parcelle et une pioche, puis peuvent acheter des terres générées de façon procédurale pour résoudre des énigmes, trouver des donjons, des trésors et des reliques oubliées, et agrandir leur base. Disponible sur PC, Linux, Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch et Xbox One, il est classé parmi les genres aventure, simulation, stratégie, RPG, indépendant et réflexion, et son prix est de 19,99 euros.
Le titre a reçu un accueil critique mitigé mais globalement favorable, avec un score Metacritic de 78 et un OpenCritic de 77. La presse a salué son caractère satisfaisant, comme l'a relevé The Indie Game Website qui y voit un achat recommandable, ou Shacknews qui juge l'expérience agréable sur plusieurs sessions. Certains joueurs sur Steam apprécient la découverte des secrets et l'expansion de l'île, tandis que d'autres regrettent des bugs empêchant de sauvegarder ou de relancer le jeu, et des mécaniques jugées superflues avec une gestion défectueuse. Le temps de jeu annoncé est d'environ 15 heures pour l'histoire principale et 42 heures pour un parcours complet.
