Fire Pro Wrestling

21 septembre 2012

Games Master UK 71/100

« As a quaint button masher there's a superplex of fun to be had. [Christmas 2012, p.87] »

X-ONE Magazine UK 70/100

« Basic wrestling action made all the better by deep customisation and accessible grappling. [Issue#91, p.86] »

Official Xbox Magazine 65/100

« You still get a decent value for your $10, though, including fun (if simple) combat, a several-hour career mode, engaging character customization, and serviceable online matches. Plus, minor hiccups are easy to overlook when you're Marcus Fenix flying off the top rope. »

Polygon 50/100

« The flaws, which range from small to stupefying, are exhaustive. »

Worth Playing 45/100

« Even if you can accept the simplicity, some of the basic mechanics don't work properly, bringing down the whole thing several notches. If you're looking for a game that is devoid of a technical learning curve, grab the demo and see if this fits the bill. Combat and pro wrestling aficionados would be better served with any other wrestling title that's offered on the system. »

EGM 40/100

« Although the game says "Fire Pro Wrestling" in the text, this isn't anything like it. All the franchises's past references are gone, replaced by a family-friendly, cookie-cutter party theme that barely stands on a weak, overly simplistic fighting engine. At the very least, if you're looking for something a young child will enjoy, it's an inexpensive purchase at 400 Microsoft Points. If you're an older wrestling fan, don't even bother. »

Giant Bomb 40/100

« I enjoyed it in spurts, but there's just too much wrong here to hold your attention for long. As amusing as it can be, it's really just a janky wrestling game with avatars stapled on for maximum stupidity. »

Official Xbox Magazine UK 40/100

« About as basic as a wrestling game can get. [Dec 2012, p.101] »

« Generally overhated, though it’s definitely not without faults. The AI is an idiot at best, and there isn’t too terribly much to do as far as the campaign mode (which is just playing matches that get progressively harder). The gameplay itself is simple, yet it has some charm to it that makes for a fun experience. Overall a great way to kill time, but don’t expect anything like No Mercy. »

« The game is **** ai attack at the dumbest parts and run away for whole matches making the time run out cuz the grab timing is so bad that they just run out of the way. If you’re going to play this, I recommend not buying or returning this game. I’ve played flash games that were better. This game should be free and is a insult to charge for money. I recommend buying a different game...there’s plenty of better ones and this one is just terrible. Also most of the game is just a dice roll and it’s unfair because 70% of it is a **** show. »

« To be honest the game isn't even that bad! The full game is a little bland and bitter, but it kinda fun.. But i wouldn't recommend it, it isn't good enough to. »

« If anyone still play this , cut it out immediately. This rip-off Wrestling game has ruined my entire life. I bet most of Xbox Gamers won't play this, but if anyone still has 360 and consider this... Go and buy much better game than this one. This one should be burnt in hell. »

« Fire Pro Wrestling is seen as a somewhat legendary franchise amongst hardcore wrestling game fans. The FPW games of old pack in huge customisation for the wrestlers, a huge variety of moves, and ingenious control schemes. Hell, even the Game Boy Advance with it's two buttons worked well, Sadly, for the Xbox 360 version, they've pretty much discarded everything which made the previous games great and are clearly hoping this will sell on name value alone. The controls feel lightweight and sloppy. The customisation which Fire Pro Wrestling is famed for is pretty much gone. ALL your created wrestlers are based off your Xbox Avatar (all you do appearance wise is change their outfit), so if you think you're going to make the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin or Sting, think again. The amount of moves available is disappointing, and most of the ones in the game need to be unlocked by winning matches. Match types are also very limited. Collision detection is poor. The cartoony avatar based graphics are appealing, but don't make up for the huge limitations placed upon you. It saddens me to say this, but if you want a deep and satisfying wrestling game on your Xbox 360, you're going to need to stick with THQ's WWE offerings. »

« As a huge fan of the Fire Pro series I wasn't just disappointed but also insulted by the idea of Microsoft taking the name of one a beloved gaming franchise and slapping it on to a terrible Avatar game. The only comparison i can make that even comes close to describing the reality of what's been done here is that It's like A company buying the rights to the Batman Arkham franchise and relabeling all the old copies of Superman64 just to make a quick nauseating buck at the expense of poor unsuspecting Fans. This is a terrible game please don't waste any of your hard earned money on it. If you really enjoy Fire Pro games or wrestling games in general You can pick up a GameBoy Advance or PS2 dirt cheap and get a copy of the Real Fire Pro games on them. There are also a ton of Fire Pro Roms out there (even a few with English translations patched in) to keep you busy till we get a Real Follow up to the best 2D Pro Wrestling game series ever made. Huge Spoilers Below!!!!!!! --This game **** don't buy it. »

« This Game ruined my life, this game should have been never made at all, it is just a torture to play, its fun to be a wrestler but this game will wouldn't just make you cringe but it will make you rage quit. »

« Just WHAT THE HE double hockey sticks was Microsoft thinking when they made this travesty ****! I wasted $10 dollars on this piece of crap. The gameplay is mundane.. it is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring. You want more? Ok how's about I tell everyone a story ok? First off, I had some micorsoft points and I was thinking, "Well I'm just gonna check if for any video games to downlad." So I did. And when I did, I found "FPW!" I downloaded it, I played it, I turned it off after one hour. You have to play through this whoooooooooooooole game in order to unlock moves, costumes, songs, etc. It is a drag to play through. Go rent or buy WWE 12 or 13. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TRAVESTY!!!! STAY FAR AWAY!!! If you don't believe the rest of us, go ahead and waste $10 on this game. Only kids, may enjoy this. »
