Ce jeu de simulation sportive, propulsé par le moteur Impact et protégé par la gestion des droits numériques Origin, met en scène le football en s'appuyant sur cinq innovations de gameplay touchant l'intelligence artificielle, le dribble, la maîtrise du ballon et le jeu physique, tout en proposant des fonctionnalités en ligne via EA SPORTS Football Club. La version compatible Kinect permet de gérer son équipe à la voix sans interrompre la partie et d'adresser des instructions sur le terrain.
