Digimon Survive
Digimon Survive

« Digimon Survive is an emotional, gripping, action-filled adventure that kept me invested from the moment I entered the Digital World. While the gameplay isn't vast, the combat is deep, and both compliment the Visual Novel style of the game. Digimon Survive may not be for everyone looking for a more direct influence on the story outside of dialogue options, but it delivers on what it promised. An amazing Digimon adventure for a whole new generation. »
« Digimon Survive is an excellent visual novel with an amazing story, great characters, a captivating tone and an engaging setting. Its only weaknesses are the localization problems and the weak combat system that, despite the pillars for something excellent, is easy and too simple. »
« The story in Digimon Survive is an example of why fans of Digimon flock to the series. Fans enjoy the themes of the series presents to fans about the pressures of growing up. While the gameplay in this outing is limited and lacking in complexities when compared to its predecessors. As a visual novel, it more than holds up as a Digimon anime entry and is a great game that any Digimon fan could enjoy. »
« Digimon Survive is by no means a flawless experience but it is an exciting and unique Digimon game. With multiple endings to see, different evolutions to discover, and over 100 Digimon to recruit the replay and content value is excellent...Due to its text-heavy nature, this game won’t be for everybody, and those who were hoping for more action may leave disappointed. Visual novel fans however will find a lot to love, and if you’re looking for a darker story set in the Digimon universe, Digimon Survive could be the perfect pickup. »
« Being a visual novel, Digimon Survive isn’t for everyone. For those with the patience for it though, we can’t help but recommend it. Whether you’re a fan of the Digimon franchise or not, there’s a thoroughly intriguing story here, backed up with attractive visuals, an enjoyable soundtrack, and some tense battles. This may be a departure for the series, but it’s paid off. »
« Despite some translation woes, Digimon Survive’s narrative still shines brightly. As cruel and dark as its narrative can be, neither you or the characters should ever give up completely. That’s the key to survival, and that message is apparent in the character relationships, the battles, and the developments of the story as a whole. Digimon Survive expresses the power that can come from your bonds with others, and how supporting each other can keep hope alive. That’s a message worth sharing, and Digimon Survive is a messenger worth experiencing. »
« Digimon Survive is an interesting experiment that largely succeeds in taking a beloved children's franchise and giving it a darker tone without completely losing what made it so beloved in the first place. The story is largely engaging and has enough twists and turns to keep things moving forward at a comfortable pace. The gameplay is enjoyable but unexceptional, but the story is the main draw. If you're a fan of Digimon, then Survive is absolutely worth your time. Even casual JRPG fans will likely find the story to be worth a look. »
« Although its east to miss the dizzy heights of the Cybersleuth series, it's to be applauded in what has been attempted here and with an easily accessible series, will convert even the most hardened hater of visual novels. With the superb presentation and the relaxed approach, many Digi-destined (which sounds way better than trainers too) will be happy for the series to continue in this style of digi-volution. »

« I enjoyed most of my time playing this game. I enjoyed a majority of the main cast, i enjoyed the tone, i enjoyed the atmopshere the story was being told in. I just wish it didnt feel so drawn out. With the amount of main characters in the game, and the affinity system, theres way too much dialogue going on for whats typically a 40 hour experience. Cut the redundant/repetitive dialogue, and the game probably wouldnt overstay its welcome. Especially for a game that has multiple different endings after you beat it the 1st time. If you think i'm playing this 3 or 4 different times youre insane. »
« Digimon fans wanted this game, but it has poor pacing in the first half, underwhelming writing and translation and generally seems to ignore the narrative achievements of the visual novel genre in the last 30-40 years. The characters are also hard to relate to, and you can't really direct the flow of the story as you'd expect to. The concept is fantastic, but the executing ends up being poor despite doing a lot of things right too. A mixed bag and a shame. »

« Uno de mis juegos favoritos de Digimon, historia muy atrapante con distintos finales »
« This game is way darker than I remember Digimon being. Its a pretty deep reimagining of the franchise. The visual novel aspect was pretty offputting to begin with, not generally a fan, but it actually tells a pretty captivating story. The overall SRPG gameplay is pretty lack luster, feeling like it was shoehorned in to make it feel more like a game. Its pretty slow paced with all units having roughly the same attack, just with different type advantages. I went through all 4 possible endings of the game, and let me tell you... that was a mistake. The different runs really do not feel significantly different, barring the "True" ending. My reccommendation for this game is playing through "Moral", and if you really love it, taking a 2nd pass at it on "Truth". By the end I was basically skipping all dialogue, put the battles on "Very easy" to get them over with, and was effectively acchivement hunting more than playing the game. »
« Not exactly the follow up I was expecting after The great Cyber sleuth games, Interesting story held back by poor localization and very basic combat for its genre. The graphics look like something best suited for mobile phones than consoles, a rather dissappoing installment. »
« As a digimon fan who already bought all of digimon games from the oldtimes until the newest one, THIS one is the most lazy digimon game that ive ever **** more like visual novel that wanna be thriller or fantasy at the same time but lack of depthness in the **** that price in playstation console, i feel like way too pricey coz the design is more like mobile games instead console games. »
« It is a game that does something bad for everything it does right. For example it has great characters and a good story but also a slow, uninteresting start and some chapters are not that good. The turn based battles are solid but there are difficulty spikes that are annoying. To be fair there is a bit of depth in battles but you can simply overpower all enemies with a few exceptions.. The game itself is a mixture of visual novel and tactical RPG in the Digimon universe. Like I said the characters and story are great but it took a while to start and a few moments in the chapters feel like filler. The game acknowledge the slow parts as you have a fast forward function and can speed up the battle speed and message speed. To get platinum you have to beat the game 4 times and this is a task I have given up in my third playtrough. Just as a story warning. The survive in the title is valid. There will be causalities and suffering. While I like the collecting of all Digimons it is often painfully. You have to figure out responses to every Digimon and depending on your choices you have low recruiting chances (The red, yellow and green choice get bonuses and have another impact I think counts as spoiler). The battles are fun but get repetitive far before you reach the ending. You can auto battle and speed up the fights too. Also the difficulty setting is not in the menu. It can be changed when the winning / losing conditions are displayed. I think I wrote enough and will add that you need a team of recruited Digimon later in the story to avoid painful grinding. Overall I rate it with a 5/10. The good parts are remarkable as I finished 2 playthrougsh but the weaker parts made it a burden. I gave up at a time when no battle was a challenge anymore. »
