AER: Memories of Old
AER: Memories of Old

« AER: Memories of Old is a original game with a combination of walking/flying simulator and puzzles. It's not a easy game, but it has a funny mechanics and beautiful design. »
« Featuring a stunning low-poly art style, a wonderfully well-integrated soundtrack, an ingeniously simple control scheme, an interesting transformation mechanic, and impressively designed temples, AER has a lot going for it. It’s unfortunate that the experience is as short as it is and there is no way to keep track of what’s been seen. A few more environmental puzzles and a simple journal would fix my only complaints about this exploration-heavy title. »
« AER Memories of Old is a pretty basic adventure title, with simple puzzles and no real action elements. You can expect a relaxing experience spanning a couple of hours, with some intriguing ideas, a distinctive personality and some touching moments. »
« A beautiful game with great flying, only held back by confusing interiors and a short duration. »
« This game offers an amazing feeling of freedom and puzzles that are intertwined with the settings. Some vague objectives at the beginning can be a nuisance, but it features an amazing visual style. »
« AER memories of Old is a very good little poetic game which will hook you up with it's amazing graphical style and the ability to play as an eagle to improve the freedom feel of it all. Only the shortness of the adventure may stop you from buying this at full blown price. »
« AER is quite original, mixing puzzles and a zen feeling. It's a good journey, but not an unforgettable one. »
« Transforming into a bird and soaring through skies and between the floating islands of AER Memories of Old is simply fantastic, and you’ll be easily drawn in by its vibrant yet minimalist art style. It doesn’t quite make the best use of the shattered world they’ve created, but for a few hours, it’s a gorgeous game and an intriguing story to explore. »
Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)
« AER is aiming for the same sort of vibe as games like Journey and Sword of the Sea, but the lack of guidance that results in getting lost over and over as well as some repetitive puzzles just make it a frustrating experience. »
« AER Memories Of Old is a non-violent exploration game set on a series of sky-islands. You play as Auk, a human with the power to shape-shift into a bird, on a pilgrimage to learn more about the land’s history, its Gods, as well as the cataclysm that plagues it. The player accomplishes this by using their ability of flight to travel between islands, and their ability of basic pattern recognition to solve rudimentary puzzles. The player is then rewarded with items used to unlock further areas of the game as well as fragments of lore. There is not much to be said about AER’s gameplay. While in a dungeon, your verb-set is limited to jumping and interacting with switches. Puzzles range from basic platforming, to selecting the correct symbol out **** of four - with the answer key but a few steps away. From a mechanical perspective, the singular highlight is traversing from island to island via flight. This is where the games atmosphere, music, and art design coalesce into an ethereal, comforting experience. In hindsight, I wish this game leaned more into this strength, with a larger map and more flight based puzzles. But I believe Forgotten Key placed a higher priority on aesthetics, and in this regard they did succeed. The high saturation, low-poly look lends itself well to flying amongst the clouds. The temples are appropriately somber and moody. A personal highlight is the presentation of the Old Gods, which were evocative, at times stunning, while still matching the restrained nature of the game’s art design. I still debate whether AER is understated or undercooked. I lean toward the latter. The game makes gestures toward ideas of imperialism and the destruction of culture, as well as the idea of nurturing hope and compassion as an aspirational ethos. But without a strong narrative pull, I felt aimless and had trouble feeling engaged - despite my best efforts. I do feel like if I step back and squint my eyes, I can appreciate this work of art more than when I try to get up close and analyze its details. Perhaps that's the point. A hesitant 5 out of 10. »
« AER: Memories of Old, huzurlu atmosferiyle keyifli bir uçuş ve keşif deneyimi sunuyor.
« It is a short and sweet game with a really nice built world and lore that you can finish in a single setting. As someone who does not really like exploration and puzzle games, I still really enjoyed my time with this game, probably because of how free and basic it felt. Basic in a really fun and good. It took me around 3-4 hours to beat without any guidance, which you don't need by the way. So I suggest everyone give it a try. »
« Jogo do caralho. Eu amei a parte gráfica desse jogo. »
« Nice concept but felt like an unfinished student project. I wish I liked it more. »
