La presse a salué l'expérience, Daily Radar évoquant « The best wrestling game ever made and one of the best games ever to appear on the N64 », tandis que Games Radar a décrit « A truly relentless wrestling game that will smack your head into several metal posts ». Certains joueurs sur Metacritic estiment qu'avec HCTP le titre reste très bon en 2025, alors que d'autres regrettent qu'on le présente systématiquement comme le meilleur jeu de catch face à HCTP.

Daily Radar 100/100

« The best wrestling game ever made and one of the best games ever to appear on the N64. »

Games Radar 100/100

« A truly relentless wrestling game that will smack your head into several metal posts before grabbing your feet, twirling you around and launching you several furlongs over empty space. »

GamePro 100/100

« With an onslaught of brawlers, multiple play modes, and a solid create-a-wrestler feature, No Mercy will have you grappling for days on end. It's a definite must-have for wrestling fans. »

Antagonist -- Ant.com 97/100

« This game is absolutely brilliant, and for me to say that about a Nintendo 64 game makes it that much more so. »

Nintendojo 95/100

« One of the greatest games you will find on the N64, and arguably the best wrestling game ever created. »

Da Gameboyz 93/100

« Solid. It has the components it needs to be held in the "elite" status of wrestling video games. It also has enough cool additions and improvements. »

IGN 90/100

« A terrific game from top to bottom. The game mechanics are sound, the animation is fantastic, the characters are very responsive and there's a tremendous amount of game modes. »

Hot Games 90/100

« It gets boring fast, and you have to love wrestling to begin with, but if you are a fan, this is a cool game to have. »

« Along with HCTP, No Mercy holds up very well in 2025. The first WWe game that actually felt like a real wrestling game and did not feel like a wannabe arcade game. I still put in a few hours each years!!! »

NoMercySucks 1/10

« I created an account specifically to leave a bad review for this game because I’m sick of people telling me it’s the greatest wrestling game ever when HCTP exists. The reversal system is random and the handicap matches are endless. I can see where it would’ve been fun if better wrestling games didn’t exist, and at the time they didn’t, but this game categorically DOES NOT hold up and is basically unplayable to anyone without a drinking problem and 2 divorces »

NaufalHS 4/10

« Unless No Mercy didn't make mistakes like WCW Mayhem or Backstage Assault, THQ and Aki could have given more time to polish the game much better. And regarding the save file corrupt glitch, it shouldn't really have happened and that can absolutely be avoided. And despite it'san critically-acclaimed wrestling game and the bestest of all in wrestling game history or era, it's just that particular problem. That stupid save file bs thing that THQ messed it up lmao »

argentshard 10/10

« (Back when WWF/WWE was actually good, not Vince only cares about Roman Reigns, the Roman Show, and Romanmania) Anyway, this is by far one of the best arcade wrestling games, had a pretty deep story mode, and loads of fun to be had at every corner. »

Gamcube 10/10

« I Love this game a lot and is one of my favorit games of all time, the controlls are great, the modes are great, almost every thing is great, but it can get boring when your playing by yourself as a aki wrestling games I think are mostly a heavy multiplayer game. »

hector_bcn98 9/10

« La cantidad de dinero que pagaría para que hicieran un remake de este juego con todas las licencias que conlleva. »

Rorian7 10/10
