WarioWare Gold est paru le 27 juillet 2018 sur Nintendo 3DS. Ce jeu d’arcade, développé par Nintendo Entertainment Planning & Development et Intelligent Systems, a été édité par Nintendo, Nintendo of Europe et Nintendo of America. Wario y fait son retour à travers une collection de microjeux comprenant 300 variantes à réaliser en quelques secondes, sollicitant l’écran tactile, l’inclinaison de la console, les boutons et le microphone, le tout dans des histoires entièrement doublées réunissant de nouveaux et d’anciens personnages.
Sur le plan critique, la presse a salué la qualité du titre à la fin de vie de la console portable : Nintendojo y voit une merveilleuse addition au catalogue 3DS avec une présentation brillante, et Nintendo Life relève un humour absurde, un doublage remarquable, un gameplay satisfaisant et des défis exigeants. Du côté des joueurs sur Metacritic, certains expriment la surprise d’avoir aimé le jeu malgré des microjeux répétitifs, tandis qu’un autre avis loue un jeu hilarant de plus de 300 microjeux mettant les réflexes à l’épreuve. Le titre obtient un score agrégé de 76,56.
La durée de parcours est estimée à 2 heures et demie pour l’histoire principale et à 27 heures pour une approche complétionniste.

« WarioWare Gold is a wonderful addition to the 3DS library at such a late point in the system’s life cycle. Its presentation is largely brilliant, with bright, bold, punchy animations and a seemingly endless variety of visual styles within the microgames themselves. Although some of the magic of the classic microgames is lost thanks to the needless graphical facelifts they’ve been given, overall the vast amounts of chaos and hilarity occurring on-screen is gorgeous. With a litany of modes and content to unlock, veteran and rookie players alike will be occupied for hours trying to see everything that the title has to offer. »

It’s got a super weird sense of humor that isn’t replicated, it pays loving tribute to Nintendo’s history, and most importantly it’s pure fun. There’s plenty of game here for the price as well, with it all being unlocked the more it’s played. A must own in handheld gaming and a good sign that the 3DS isn’t dead yet. »

« I was suprised that I loved this game even though the micro games were REALLY MICRO INDEED, and kind of repetitive unfortunately. However this is the only game where I actually wanted to unlock all the collectibles and the voice over recording is so funny »

« WarioWare Gold is an excellent game in the series, taking past microgames and combining them with new and exciting features and game modes! The controls are simple, but fun to use, the story is hilarious and keeps you engaged, and the voice acting is incredible! There is still so much to do after beating the game, such as completing all of the missions, and filling out your Toy Room! I could find myself playing this game for hours and hours on end. One of my favorite games of all time! »
