Description (IGDB)

Freestyle Street Soccer known as Urban Freestyle Soccer in Europe is, as the name implies, a Freestyle soccer-game in an urban setting. The game focuses on action and fun instead of realism. You play four on four in five game modes: Turf War, Home Turf, Street Challenge Cup, Exhibition and Multiplayer. The first requires you to conquer neighborhoods in the city by winning soccer matches against rival gangs. Street Challenge Cup allows you to play an entire competition. Each player can perform a large variety of moves beyond the typical soccer game moves, such as scissor kicks, midair juggles, and bicycle kicks. Performing said moves allows you to gain skill points that can be used to unlock new game modes, teams, courts, and cheats. Next to these special moves, you can also interact with the environment. Your players can pick things up and throw them around or manually hit your opponents.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)

Gamer's Pulse 70/100

« An engaging and challenging urban adaptation of the sport, Freestyle Street Soccer offers a solid arcade sporting experience. Balancing traditional soccer gameplay with easy-to-execute tricks and stunts, the game is simple to play. »

Official Xbox Magazine 47/100

« The problems start with control. The response isn't razor sharp, the special moves aren't spectacular, and the Netbuster specials are too easy to pull off. [Jan 2004, p.73] »

GMR Magazine 40/100

« There's also a full set of uninteresting urban ethnic stereotypes rendered in starkly dated graphics and loudmouth fake gangsta sound bites. [Mar 2004, p.85] »

Eurogamer 40/100

« It's yet another example of a distinctly average "extreme sports" game that lacks the polish and creativity of the real-life sportsmen it's trying to emulate-slash-harness. »

Game Informer 40/100

« The problem is that many of the tricks you do with the ball simply don't work. Worse yet is the abyssmal AI - particularly for the goalies. [Feb 2004, p.109] »

Cheat Code Central 40/100

« The gang vernacular and the gratuitous use of swearing may make this game appear cool but you may as well listen to an Andrew Dice Clay recording and play with a string-less yo-yo. »

Maxim Online 40/100

« Passing and shooting in these high-scoring battles is as easy as squeezing the trigger on an Uzi, but complicated button-mashing for trick moves, muddy graphics, and a schizophrenic soundtrack of Method Man, TLC, and Foo Fighters all draw red cards. »

G4 TV 40/100

« Squarely intent on holding the middle ground in every sense of the phrase, this isn't a terrible game, but it isn't especially good, either. »
