Stellaris

« This ain't your grandfather's space strategy game. Stellaris opens up a whole new perspective on galactic conquest, and in doing so sets the bar for the genre for years to come. »
« Stellaris is a new grand strategy masterpiece; one of the best space strategy game on the market. »
« Stellaris is simply wonderful. If you enjoy grand strategy games then you’ll love this. If you don’t then this could be the one to change your mind. If you’ve been too intimidated to try the genre before now, then here’s your ideal starting point. »
« Stellaris is easy to comprehend and exciting to execute, which is a perfect combination for a genre notoriously difficult to break into. »
« Unreasonable expectation of perfection aside, Stellaris is a expertly blended mosaic of 4X, grand strategy and self-created narrative. For the relatively small niche that this game occupies, it is the undisputed master and commander. »
« Whether you're a Paradox pro or newcomer, Stellaris invites you to a grand strategy experience like no other. With its beautiful visuals, deep exploration mechanics, inspiring soundtrack and intriguing mysteries, Stellaris is bound to make you boldly go where no man - or woman - has gone before. »
« Calling Stellaris Europa Universalis in space is probably reductive, but it was the first thing I did in this review not because they are almost exactly alike, but because, when I put away my empires and get on with my day, the stories that have played out in these digital worlds embed themselves in my brain, and I so desperately want to tell people about them. Both games tickle the part of my brain that wants every battle to have some greater context, every move I make to be part of a larger narrative. Stellaris manages to do this without history to lean on, though, and does so with aplomb. »
« As many other videogames developed by Paradox, Stellaris speaks to a very small niche. Complex and uncompromising, it shows an impressive effort to bring the gameplay of a Grand Strategy Game into the space. »

« I feel like I need to be spending half an hour on the Wiki every night before bed for like 6 months to a year to understand all the mechanics in this game after I've already spent 30 hours plus on tutorials. I don't HAVE to, but the more I understand the more I enjoy it. There's so much to learn and it can be overwhelming, but oh man it's worth it and I recommend it. »
« The best Space 4X nowdays , and the DLC's give the game more flavor and excitement !!! »
« Let me be clear, I am in no way "good" at this game. So why do I play? Because I can keep trying and trying again and exploring fun new ways to play. Sure, I ****, but I love playing out my ideas of races and stories anyway! »
« A beautiful game that took the best parts of classic games like Master of Orion 2 and Galactic Civilizations, together with basically all of mankind's sci-fi lore. The width and depth of the possibilites in this game are enormous: you can play anything, from a plant communist utopia to a race of habitat-dwelling crocubots. It's not a perfect game, however, for two reasons. The first is that the game is BLOATED and SLOW: too much content, too many CPU operations to be calculated, and the game gets slow very quickly even in medium galaxies. The second is that they removed the personal feeling of planets after they removed planetary tiles, and now managing planetary production feels like clicking a spreadsheet. Try it if you like sci-fi and complex games, although we should probably wait for a Stellaris 2 with a better and faster engine. But current Paradox, launching bugged and unpolished Skylines 2 and Bloodlines 2, is not after user experience anymore, so I don't have high hopes for Stellaris 2. This is the best we can get from Paradox I fear. »
« The game looks decent and even promising. But the UI… oh boy, it’s a complete disaster. UI scaling is absolutely pointless – anything above or below 1.0 will make your right eye f... your left eye. Text overlaps buttons and other text, typography is a complete mess, and in just 2 hours I feel like I’ve lost more eyesight than in my entire life. No wonder every streamer playing this game wears glasses with +10 or -10 and stares into the monitor like their soul depends on it. Whoever designed this UI was clearly working for scraps. »
« In the realm of space-themed 4X games, this title has remained at the absolute top for years in terms of experience and polish—there’s simply no real competition. Andreas Waldetoft’s original soundtrack is also a major buff to the overall immersion.I recently subscribed to all the Stellaris DLCs—it turns out that subscribing for two years is still cheaper than buying them outright. And honestly, Paradox games work really well with a subscription model. This Ironman run felt rich and rewarding, but the novelty and amount of content probably won’t keep most players going for an entire year—unless you’re a hardcore, completionist-style 4X player. If Paradox releases a new in-house (non-published) title in the future, I’ll likely subscribe right from the **** Stellaris OST might be one of the key reasons players stick with the game. In the mid-to-late game, once exploration-focused players have figured out most of the event chains and systems, things can start to feel repetitive—but that powerful music keeps pulling you back in. »
« Ein Strategiespiel, das fast so süchtig macht wie Civilization – und dazu einer der zugänglichsten Paradox-Titel überhaupt! »
« Stellaris is a very fun strategy game but it has its moments of annoyance too... Stellaris as a strategy game is among my favourites, perhaps even my number 1#, but it is far from perfect. Like other paradox games, Stellaris relleis heavily on the content of its DLCs to really get good. DLCs such as Utopia and Apocalypse feel almost like a requirement for the game to feel complete. Had those two DLCs been put into the base game, instead of DLCs I think that would maybe push this game's score up a bit... It also has problems with certain mechanics. Having to deal with the other AI empires can be very frustrating and especially when you're doing warfare and doing peace deals, sometiems it just gets so annoying you have to take a break. On the other hand, the game is still incredible fun and with a space aesthetic and sci-fi overhaul to what is otherwise usually normal boring maps, this game distinguishes itself from games like Hearts of Iron or Victoria. The soundtrack is also among the best of any paradox game, perhaps even the VERY best! Songs like "Faster than Light" and "Riding the Solar Wind" are etched into my memory from back when I first played this game. The graphics and art part of the game is also a step above Paradox's other games, probably because the space theme lends itself way better to the creative art of... well... art. The main menu backgrounds and loading screens are beautiful and the ship models are immaculate. Especially the aesthetics and art of the fallen empires are a cut above the rest! »
