Description (IGDB)
An extraordinary amusement park has been seen orbiting around the home planet of Sonic the Hedgehog, and rumors are spreading that an alien race of Wisps, who have a unique colorful energy, are being held captive there by the evil Dr. Eggman. Soon after arriving at the amusement park, Sonic discovers he is able to use these mysterious alien forces to help the Wisps escape!
Histoire (IGDB)
Doctor Eggman opens an amusement park in space called Dr. Eggman's Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park, allegedly turning over a new leaf and making up for past transgressions. The park is made up of several planet-sized attractions. Suspicious, Sonic the Hedgehog and his best friend Tails investigate. They meet Yacker, who comes from a species of aliens known as Wisps. After Tails invents a translator to communicate with him, they learn that other Wisps have been enslaved by Eggman, who plans to harness their energy for a mind-control laser that will allow him to take over Earth. Sonic proceeds to visit the planets, liberating the Wisps and shutting down the generators linked to the amusement park. He meets many of his friends along the way, who are also exploring the park in an attempt to disrupt Eggman's plans. After Sonic frees the Wisps, Eggman tries to fire the cannon at the world, but a piece of wreckage causes it to malfunction. As the amusement park begins to explode, Sonic confronts Eggman. Eggman uses the Nega-Wisps to power his final contraption, a robot that uses the powers of all the Wisps that Sonic has met against him. As the machine gets weaker, the Wisps escape and help Sonic defeat Eggman, sending him hurtling off into space. The Wisps carry Sonic out of the exploding amusement park. Returning safely to Earth, Yacker thanks Sonic and Tails. However, Sonic and Tails soon learn that the leading Mother Wisp had been infected by the negative energy and transformed into the Nega-Mother Wisp. Using the power of the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic transforms into Super Sonic and fights her. Following her defeat, the Mother Wisp returns to normal and the Wisps part ways with the two heroes. In a post-credits scene, Eggman is seen stranded in space with his henchmen Orbot and Cubot.

« A fantastic game. Not just a step in the right direction, but an unequivocal success. In fact, it's the best entry in the series since the Blue Blur's 16-bit heyday. [Dec 2010, p.78] »
« To call Sonic Colours the best 3D Sonic game ever is damning with faint praise, although its title is deserved. The action is fast enough to satisfy your speed lust, whilst the Wisp powers introduce plenty of new skills and ways to explore the stages that otherwise could just be straight zips to the finish. »
« Sonic Colours embraces everything a SEGA fan could ever hope for or dream. Platforming has rarely been so fun and engaging. »
« Sonic Colors is a fantastic game. Its greatest achievement is that one does not have to be a super-tolerant dyed-in-the-wool Sonic super fan to enjoy it or to forgive a laundry list of flaws. »
« We can say without hesitation than this is the best Sonic game for the Wii, and maybe the best Sonic 3D ever made. »
« But if you're looking for a modern Sonic game which stays faithful to its roots, is fun to play and is a worthy title on its own merits, look no further. Finally, Sonic Colors is that game we've been waiting for. »
« Whether you are a fan or not the hedgehog, take a chance and see if this is more a title of "Sonic cycle". »
« Sonic Colours is a worthy successor of the saga we have learned to love in the 90's. Quick and easy to master, the game brings a lot of fun and it's really enjoyable by all kind of players. »

« Yeah it’s alright sure it’s it’s nothing special and the story is hum more kid friendly I guess but I still injoyed »
« I love Sonic games… this isn’t one of them unfortunately, it had some great music, it looked good for a Wii game, and has merit, but the 3D sections weren’t that fun, it was mostly a 2D game, plus getting an S rank was torture, and the writing and story weren’t great… still it is a good game, but not perfect »
« Got done with Sonic **** game was really fun. The locations were creative, the visuals looked nice and the wisps were useful in many of the levels. A few downsides were some of the levels were too basic and the bosses were lame and easy, but overall it's another top 10 Sonic game. »
« Legendary Sonic game. Wips are average. Music is good. Levels are average. »
« I think most people can agree that Sonic Colors was one of the biggest turning points in the franchise. Like most platformer mascots, Sonic has had a lot of jarring transformations over the years. But what kept him intact was the impact he left in the 90’s and early 2000’s never truly faded away. Even with a string of failed games, people couldn’t get of his charm. The speed, the snarky attitude, the rebellious demeanor. A lot of that charm still resonates with people to this day. It’s amazing to see how much of an impact he has on the world today. Which brings up arguably, the biggest issue I have with Sonic Colors, a lot of that charm isn’t represented here. While the game itself is really fun, the cutscenes are littered with some of the worst writing in the entire franchise. Actively working against the story, rather than supporting it. While I’m not against the idea of having a more laid back story for a Sonic game, I found a lot of the dialogue in this game to be pretty flat. Barely adding any real tension or comedy to the story. I really like the entire concept of Sonic saving aliens from an interstellar amusement park. But because the characters kept cracking bad jokes every ten seconds, I didn’t really feel satisfied after beating the game. Other than that though. The controls are alright, the visuals are amazing, the music is spectacular, it has everything you would want to see in a Sonic game. It may not be an amazing platformer, but it’s a pretty good platformer. »
« Sonic Colors is widely considered a total high point for the series, especially because it successfully brought Sonic back to basics while adding a creative twist with the Wisps. Most positive reviews raved about how the game dropped the "extra" characters and kept the focus entirely on fast-paced platforming and clever power-ups. The level design is a perfect mix of 2D and 3D sections, which makes the gameplay feel fresh without being overwhelming. Plus, the soundtrack is legendary—it has an upbeat, orchestral energy that fits the "intergalactic theme park" vibe perfectly. »
