Il se présente comme un titre de performance musicale interactive destiné à faire chanter et danser les joueurs et leurs invités. Avec une sélection de dizaines de chansons populaires, il permet aussi bien aux chanteurs novices qu'aux artistes expérimentés de participer. Lorsqu'une personne endosse le rôle de performer principal, les autres participants peuvent danser, chanter et applaudir en suivant les indications affichées à l'écran, afin que l'ensemble de la fête s'amuse ensemble.
Le titre a reçu une note agrégée de 66,50. Dans leurs critiques, les journalistes de Nintendo Power ont indiqué que le jeu se savoure idéalement à au moins deux personnes et particulièrement lors d'une fête, tout en restant agréable à tout moment. GamingXP a de son côté conseillé de ne pas sous-estimer Sing Party, saluant la simplicité, les options et la présentation du jeu ainsi que les nombreuses idées nouvelles qu'il apporte au genre. Du côté des joueurs sur Metacritic, certains se sont dits sincèrement impressionnés par l'interface simple et les guides mélodiques bien conçus, tandis qu'un autre a regretté un manque de chansons et de styles musicaux supplémentaires, jugeant pourtant le jeu plutôt bon.

« As a HUGE karaoke game fan, i was genuinely impressed by SiNG Party. The HUD is simple and the melody guidelines are well done, making it easy for experienced singers to sing a song they've never heard before. Although the songlist is a little unoriginal, most of the songs will get the party started in your living room. »
