Sorti le 3 mai 2004 sur PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox et Nintendo GameCube, Shrek 2 est un jeu d'aventure et de plateforme développé par Luxoflux, studio à l'origine de Vigilante 8, et édité par Activision. Le titre repose sur l'Unreal Engine 2 et adapte l'intrigue du second film : Shrek se rend au royaume de Très Loin Loin pour rencontrer ses beaux-parents, déclenchant le chaos lorsque ceux-ci découvrent la véritable nature de leur gendre et de leur fille.
Le gameplay alterne résolution d'énigmes et phases de combat, en permettant au joueur de contrôler une équipe de quatre personnages interchangeables à tout moment. Chacun dispose d'attaques de base et d'une capacité unique : l'Âne utilise son « Burro Blast » pour renverser de gros obstacles, Shrek soulève et lance des objets lourds, tandis que Fiona ralentit le temps, dans un clin d'œil à sa scène de combat du premier film.
Côté réception, la presse spécialisée s'est montrée globalement favorable. Gamer's Hell a souligné que « chaque tâche, aventure et énigme est amusante et divertissante », qualifiant l'expérience de « jeu au rythme soutenu, agréable pour tous les âges ». GamingTrend a quant à lui salué la qualité de l'adaptation en la présentant comme un modèle du genre. L'accueil des joueurs est en revanche plus partagé : un utilisateur de Metacritic a jugé le titre « simple, problématique et à peine fonctionnel », regrettant un potentiel non exploité et lui attribuant la note de 6,4 sur 10, ce qui s'aligne sur la note agrégée de 61,85.

« Прошел знаменитый Шрек 2. Ах сколько мемов было, как же донимали Папича этой игрой, он в итоге ее даже прошел... Всё это время я думал что хайп в какой-то мере оправданный и в этой игре есть что-то интересное, но я еще никогда так не ошибался. Я даже видел эту игру у кого-то пару раз в детстве, и мне казалось, что это полноценная игра, но нет... Я даже проходил третьего Шрека и слышал, мол - " неее это не то, ВОТ ВТОРОЙ ШРЕК ЭТО МДААААА". Меня самым оголтелым образом обманули! Шрек 2 это не игра, это ОГРЫЗОК игры. Продолжительность игры - 2 часа, сложность нулевая, единственное, что может тебя убить это падение вниз при платформинге, боевка - смехотура. При этом понаделали всяких вставочек похожих на те, что были в биошоке, где можно покупать всякие зелья, которые вообще ни для чего не нужны, игра просто одноклеточная. При этом на озвучку этой игры позвали реальных русских актеров, которые озвучивали оригинальный мультфильм, даже Дмитрий Назаров засветился. Игра - лютая стыдоба в ней вообще ничего нет 2.5/10 »
