Rally Challenge
Rally Challenge
Description (IGDB)
Rally Challenge is a rally game featuring three vehicles: the Proton Wira, the Toyota Celica GT4 and the Subaru Impreza WRX. Gameplay is based on running a rally stage - a twisty section of road with snow, mud, asphalt or dirt. The player can choose to run a single stage, a "ghost race" against a previous run, or a championship season. For the championship, you race all of the stages available against up to 9 other players - either human competitors or computer AI. As the races are done without any other cars on track, it is done by turn-by-turn. The game also offers a replay mode with the ability to save. Through a serial link or over a network, you can race against another human player.

Critiques de la Presse (Metacritic)
« It's a shame that the developers didn't polish "Rally Challenge 2000" a bit before they sent it out the door, because it has a really cool racing engine at its core. »
« It's not a miserable game by any stretch -- the bad fogging can be worked around, the sad audio can be drowned out without missing anything, and the lacking tracks are at least true to the sport. »
« It's not going to keep you up nights either; it's simply an amalgam of traits copied from more successful franchises, with a few new innovations that don't really add much to the gameplay. »
« Succeeds on some levels and fails on others, but on the whole, it does a good job of being a party game. »
« Although the actual car models are quite nice, the N64's infamous fog--which makes for about 10 feet of visibility, even in sunny conditions--and the blurry, washed-out textures undermine the game's few good points. »
« Bringing gamers a sense of nostalgia may be alright in space shooters and RPGs, but in a racing game, especially in the visuals department, it just isn’t right. »
« The hobo outside could do a better job than whomever they picked to do the voice acting. »
« Bad graphics, dreadful sounds, and lack of originality, leaves a very nasty taste in one's mouth after playing a few rounds. »

« So i wont lie i only played 1 race and that all i need to know from a game like this. Im not to big on racing games but that doesnt mean i dont like them i use to play nascar heat 2002 and a bunch other nascar games in the day but this game overall isnt to bad its just like every other rally sports game that i played. Graphics isnt to bad, gameplay and controls are solid for an N64 title, only thing i dont like is the way the races are set up. One mess up and you wont be in 1st or anything literally the first race in arcade i didnt damage much and i only got 7th. The game isnt forgiving for places i see. Overall not to bad but not fun either its boring and dull for a racing game »
« An unashamed rip-off of Sega Rally, it's not as much fun to play but has more cars and tracks on offer. The championship mode doesn't work half as well because the slightest damage or wear and tear on your car makes it unmanagably sluggish but it's worth it for the Arcade mode. »
« Insanely great racing good fun for the night. Best racing game on the n64. Graphics 83/100, Controls 97/100, and Replay Value 98/100 for a total score of 95/100. »
« This game ****. End of story. Okay, i'm joking. This game really does not hold up well and just really, really ****. »
« This game is an absolute trash fest for gaming. I do not approve for anything in this terrible game and I hope you all agree. »
