Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, développé et publié par Konami, est sorti le 12 septembre 2017 sur PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One et PC. Ce dix-septième opus de la série, également décliné sur Android et iOS, marque la dernière apparition de la licence sur les consoles PlayStation 3 et Xbox 360 ainsi que la fin des droits sur la Ligue des champions, la Ligue Europa et la Supercoupe de l'UEFA, accompagnés du partenariat avec le Borussia Dortmund. Pour l'occasion, Konami a recréé le stade « Ultimate Stage » reprenant l'identité visuelle de la C1 2015-2018. Le jeu propose une simulation footballistique axée sur un réalisme accru, avec un contrôle de balle et des dribbles retravaillés, et intègre des modes comme la Ligue des Masters, Become a Legend ou le multijoueur en ligne, y compris une coopération. La presse a salué l'ampleur des activités et la qualité du gameplay, IGN notant qu'il y a « a huge amount to do here and a huge amount to love », tandis qu'IGN Italia relève que Konami a « improved the gameplay in every possible way » malgré la proximité avec l'édition précédente. Certains joueurs sur Steam jugent l'immersion et les animations réalistes convaincantes, et l'un d'eux estime que « PES 2018 est une réussite, à quasiment tous les niveaux », alors que des retours sur Metacritic mentionnent des graphismes et une jouabilité appréciés, notamment sur PS3. The level of detail and player likenesses create a game that comes as close to you'll get to the real thing. There are still a few minor issues with presentation, and perhaps a few more changes could have been made to Master League and Become a Legend, but I'm clutching at straws here. The gameplay is near perfection, the AI and goalkeepers are improved, Konami have added further licenses to their product, and the graphics are amazing. Hopefully the servers are ready for online and with just a few minor presentation improvements to be improved on, PES really has set the bar of what a football game should be. »
