Description (IGDB)

In the video game, which takes place a year after the movie, RJ, Hammy, Verne, and the gang feel that they need to have more things for the log (the area behind the hedge). This leads them on a wild romp through six different areas to snatch different things such as a popcorn machine and a TV for themselves. There are several mini games as bonuses in the game. All through the game, they try to take these things while avoiding the Sniffer, (Dwayne the Verminator), who tries to defeat them by using mind-controlled vermin he has captured as his "henchmen." At one point, many animals, including weasels, badgers, and even Vincent the bear are controlled.

Over the Hedge is a 2006 American animated comedy film directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick, and written by Len Blum, Lorne Cameron, David Hoselton and Kirkpatrick. It is based on the Over the Hedge comic strip by Michael Fry and T. Lewis, and was produced by DreamWorks Animation. The voice cast stars Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, William Shatner, Wanda Sykes, and Nick Nolte. PGNx Media 85/100

« The mixture of action, stealth, and minigames will keep your attention for the game’s direction. The solid gameplay is made better because of the excellent presentation. »

IGN 82/100

« Over the Hedge surprises with some really creative DS technology and game design that feels completely unique to the handheld library. »

Deeko 80/100

« The game is very competent and offers up a fairly meaty single player experience. Taking cues from Metal Gear Solid and Prince of Persia, Over the Hedge is a well designed adventure that requires patience and planning. »

eToychest 80/100

« Don’t let the movie license scare you away. The game looks good, controls well, and is entertaining to play. Vicarious Visions did a great job with the license here. »

VGPub 80/100

« As a licensed game, it’s fantastic. It does justice to the source material in both the movie and comic strip, while providing a good game on top of it. »

ZTGD 80/100

« Don’t let the movie license deter you from this stellar title, as you may end up missing out on one of the more impressive DS titles released this year. »

Game Chronicles 80/100

« As one of the few genuinely impressive movie-to-game conversions, Over the Hedge smacks of the old PlayStation and N64 Toy Story adventure games of yore – with top-notch presentation, killer graphics and solid gameplay throughout. »

Nintendojo 80/100

« Over The Hedge serves quite well as a light-hearted stealth action game. It’s not enough to make you forget that there’s no Metal Gear on DS, but it does boast a somewhat new use of the system’s features, and for a portable game based on a family movie property, exceeds all expectations. »

« this game cursed me. I stumbled upon this game at a garage sale, where a crusty toed white woman named debora walked up to me and said "do not buy this **** game whatever you do". I bought it for 5$. immediately after popping this cursed object into my ds, everything went downhill. I lost my job at the new Mexican **** house. I lost my wife of 10 days, both my children moved to Venezuela to sell kale at suspiciously high prices. even my favorite hair fell out. I got drafted into the war. and there I lost my finger and accessory spleen. all of my money got stolen by a estonian rum brewer who wears denim lederhosens. i was forced to live on the street, where I melted into the pavement. after becoming concrete, I went into elvis's butthole sealing it (I'm sure nothing bad happened due to that). I then became part of the Berlin wall where I stayed forever because nothing could ever happen to the Berlin wall. I am sending this review from the year of 1988. God bless me and my family. stay safe. »

« This game plays out like a sequel to the movie of the same name. The story is basic but that’s to be expected for a tie in game. The gameplay is where the game really shines and for movie game standards this is a solid game. The game has pictures for the cutscenes while compressed look like the movie. The game has you go in the hub which is behind the hedge and the hedge has holes in it acting like a level select. If I had to say something bad about this game it would be the length of the game. It took me at least 3 hours to complete the game. The game has three worlds with 5 levels each and another world which ins in a construction zone. The game plays like a stealth game where you have to avoid the humans seeing you. There are 3 characters to play as. RJ the raccoon, Verne the turtle and Hammy the squirrel. There are traps you have to avoid in the house. You also have some power ups like soda for speed and phone card to prank call the house phone as a distract. For a ds game the graphics look pretty standard with 3D models of the characters. If you seen the movie and have a ds then I would recommend getting this game. the game. »

« vikter Oct 26, 2014 10 This is objectively the best game you can buy right now; its realistic and visionary art style, combo'd with the amazing soundtrack, the witty dialogue and astoundingly challenging yet rewarding gameplay makes this game a must buy, and also shows the why the DS is the single most succesful game system of all times. Cory in the House is the iPhone 6 of software; the ultimate masterpiece. All things that games try to do in different ways, CitH does perfectly well without compromising other areas. It is a milestone not only in videogames, but in art itself »
