Nintendogs: Best Friends
Nintendogs: Best Friends est une édition limitée sortie le 27 novembre 2005 sur Nintendo DS, développée et publiée par Nintendo. Se présentant comme un titre de simulation, ce bundle comprenait une console Nintendo DS de couleur spéciale ainsi qu'une édition « Best Friends » du Nintendogs à succès. La version de Nintendogs incluse exclusivement dans ce bundle permettait aux propriétaires de commencer avec les six races les plus populaires choisies parmi les trois éditions du jeu. L'ensemble a reçu une note agrégée de 80,00.
Du côté des retours des joueurs sur Metacritic, les avis soulignent des perceptions nuancées. Certains joueurs ont qualifié le titre de révolutionnaire pour son époque en étendant la formule du tamagotchi à des chiens numériques adorables, tout en notant qu'il ne présente plus rien de bien sophistiqué de nos jours. D'autres joueurs l'ont décrit comme un tamagotchi canin où l'on joue avec des chiens en images de synthèse en les chatouillant sur l'écran tactile, trouvant les graphismes mignons mais remettant en question la description de ce titre comme un « jeu ».

« This was revolutionary for its time, taking the tamagotchi formula and expanding it into adorable digital dogs. Nowadays it isn't anything fancy, many of its mechanics are considered basics of "pet minigames," but that's because the formula here was so solid. The dogs had real character and it was fun to take care of them, which is really all you can ask for »
