Digital Chumps 95/100

« Overall, MLB The Show 20 is another marvel for San Diego Studios. The tweaks they implemented and the gameplay options they have provided only stand to improve the product. They own baseball in gaming and it looks like they’re not ready to give it up anytime soon. »

Twinfinite 90/100

« MLB The Show 20 feels very balanced across all game modes, is loaded with things to do, and is well set up for the future. There is something for everyone whether you want to play offline or online, alone or with others and it leaves me wondering yet again how San Diego Studio will try to match or outdo themselves next year. »

Attack of the Fanboy 90/100

« Late generation sports releases are usually at the top of their game when nearing the end of the current console generation and MLB The Show 20 continues that trend with a walk off home run in the final PlayStation only entry in the series. »

Forbes 90/100

« With many of the smaller gaps filled from last year’s game, this is yet another championship-caliber season for Sony San Diego Studios. MLB The Show 20 does so much right that it’s foolish to spend too much time lamenting it’s flaws. Gameplay, visuals, improved customization and depth; it’s hard to ask for much more. »

GamingTrend 90/100

« MLB The Show 20 is clearly the culmination of all the hard work that went into the previous iterations, and then some. The updated and added game mechanics such as First Step and Perfect-Perfect batting add a sense of realism to a game where instincts and being quick on your feet is important. With a plethora of game modes, it’s almost overwhelming at times because you don’t know where to start. But once you begin, this game is hard to put down. »

USgamer 90/100

« MLB The Show 20 isn't a complete replacement for all those lost afternoons at the ballpark, but it's nevertheless a balm for the baseball fan's soul in these trying times. While this year's version largely rests on the excellence of last year's version, it still brings with it plenty of strong additions, including the return of online leagues. As a tip of the cap to conclude the PlayStation 4 generation, it comes highly recommended. »

COGconnected 90/100

« MLB The Show 20 is less like that random pitcher who threw a perfect game, and more like your perennial Cy Young candidate. You can count on the franchise to come out year after year with quality content and gameplay. While the actual season may not be happening soon, MLB The Show 20 is sure to keep baseball fans glued to their screens. »

Critical Hit 90/100

« MLB: The Show 20 makes getting to first base feel easy, getting to second a true joy, third a journey and getting the home run an experience worth reliving. It’s by far and away one of the most complete sport game packages out there and provides good reason to stay home in these crazy times. »

« My favourite iteration of the series, after taking a while to tune everything to my preference the game just clicked. There is a significant learning curve to these games, but once you get it they are phenomenal. With tons of game modes there are literally 1000s of hours gameplay here, but its up to you to sift through what you're going to enjoy. To be fair, the sheer volume of content can be quite overwhelming but stick with it, find a mode you like, and you won't regret it »

« As bad as 2021 is, this game ****. People argue about whether or not events and game outcomes are predetermined or scripted. Well, they are. I’ve copied save files and replayed moments and games to see the outcomes and get the same results each time, the same at bats with the same runners on and the same score. The game is pure sim since about 2018, maybe earlier. The team at SDS is a bunch of liars and the community is full of morons who believe them. Waste of effing time. »

« The game is almost perfect, but baserunning is extremely broken. Hit and runs are broken, stolen bases are sometimes broken, etc. Some other issues: the AI on easier difficulties is extremely good at hitting fastballs right on the lower corner for home runs, and the AI seems to know what you are going to do (they almost always slidestep when I steal). »

« Since we are a month away from the release of MLB The Show 21, I just thought it would be nice to tell the people where this game lacked. In my personal opinion, this game was pretty good. I enjoyed the overall gameplay, modes, legends, grind and fun features this game had to offer. My overall rating is 8.2. Of course, there were still a lot of very noticable issues in this game that didn't sneak past the players. #1 - No stadium creator, I know its coming in 21 but it was a bummer having to put our custom team in an existing team stadium. #2 - The overall customization features for creating your team are cool but also a little bit confusing and complicated if you're trying to make your own logos. You also can't put any text or logos anywhere freely on the jerseys. #3 - Not only were animations that we had for over 10 years recycled AGAIN, but catches at the wall and while jogging seemed to make a bit of players break their controller. With lots of easy fly balls being able to drop because of the lazy outfielder who jogs for no reason, and catches at the wall were either to frequent or to rare and also sometimes wouldn't even register an animation to make a play on the ball. #4 - Matt vasgersian may be a beloved broadcaster in the baseball world but its about time he retires from the virtual world, in this game he makes yet another return and with only so many changes to what he says in the booth. #5 - Pitching is very solid in 20 but there are a lot of occasions where you can have the best timing possible on a pitch, only to have sail down the middle for an easy homer. Thankfully, it will be heavily improved in 21 but it was still frustrating to deal with at times in 20 #6 - Road To The Show was still missing a lot of potential in 20, with the mode being very fun at first and then having no real enthusiasim coming out later #7 - Franchise was also missing a lot of features that would be a game-changer, leaving it only fun for so long, it is a still a decent mode, but I expect a lot more from the next-gen versions. #8 - Perfect-Perfect Foul Balls and Lineouts....... Why #9 - Animations for getting a no-hitter, walk-off, perfect game and winning a playoff series and the world series were still the same recycled animations. I don't understand recycling them, we as players love to see different animations of our team celebrating while we ourselves celebrate. Though is also will most-likely be fixed in 21, I was pretty tired of seeing the same old boring animation #10 - Believe me, I understand that I was not the best player at the game, but it seemed like when facing the cpu in moments or other modes I would always get line drives or deep fly-balls robbed at ease by the outfielders, no matter what their fielding and speed ratings were. I don't know about you, but It's kinda fishy when nelson cruz casually jogs for 4 seconds before making a incredible superman catch on a screaming line drive into right. #11 - Please do not ever put your baserunning on automatic, the cpu baserunners seem to always fall asleep whenever they want, and then wake up at the worst time. They are absolutely terrible and you will regret it. #12 - Last but not least, most bullpen options in the battle royale mode in diamond dynasty barely throw one pitch before falling in the yellow in stamina, this is very annoying considering all the amazing hitters you have to face in the mode with only so much you can do before your pitcher is out of energy. And that's it. Those 12 issues are all I have with the game since i'm not nitpicking. Like I said earlier, I do enjoy this game a lot and give it 8.2 out of 10. But I do expect 21 to not only cover these issues but give us potentially the first real 10-10 baseball game since MVP Baseball 05. Thank you for reading. »

« The game is pretty good and fun to play. The gameplay needs a little work though. My main concern is the lack of changes to RTTS(which is still pretty fun to play) and Franchise. »

AWKWARDGOAT 5/10

« Great simulator of baseball, but its been the exact same game for the last 5 years. Since The Show 16, exact same graphics, animations, and commentary. Same exact scripted and lifeless RTTS with just a little bit more gear to wear. Just like Madden in that 99% of their focus is put towards the virtual card collecting mode and selling stubs »
