Sorti le 28 février 2006 sur PlayStation 2 et PlayStation Portable, MLB 06: The Show est un jeu de sport consacré au baseball. Développé par le studio SCE San Diego Studio, anciennement connu sous le nom de 989 Sports, et édité par Sony Computer Entertainment, il constituait la seule production first-party bénéficiant de la licence officielle MLB pour la saison 2006, partageant le marché avec l'autre titre sous licence, Major League Baseball 2K6.
Côté réception, le titre a obtenu une note agrégée de 89,50. La presse spécialisée s'est montrée particulièrement élogieuse : Operation Sports l'a qualifié de « plus grand jeu de baseball de cette génération de consoles », tandis que Gaming Age estimait que « le jeu de baseball est représenté parfaitement », le considérant comme un candidat au titre de meilleur jeu de baseball de l'année, voire de meilleur jeu de sport toutes catégories confondues.
