Daily Radar 100/100

« Jaw-dropping graphics. The level of detail on each player is almost silly. »

Maxim Online 100/100

« The most visually impressive football game ever. »

Games Radar 100/100

« Madden NFL 2001 pushes the mighty "ISS Evolution" into a two-way fight to be the greatest sports game on any system. Ever. »

Cincinnati Enquirer 100/100

« The PS2 version of Madden looks deceptively close to broadcast TV quality. »

GamePro 100/100

« With some of the best graphics the PS2 is likely to see in a sports game this year, Madden NFL 2001 also has the gameplay to back up the window dressing and a fat selection of options to tweak the game to your liking. »

GamePen 100/100

« The graphics are phenomenal making it the best-looking football game out there. Gameplay is pretty good and playing with up to eight others via the multi-tap is a blast. »

Antagonist 97/100

« Comparing this to "NFL2K" on the Dreamcast, you can immediately see that the PS2 is pumping out zillions more polygons. There are reflections on helmets. There are weather conditions that look like the real thing. »

Game Fan 97/100

« Even Sega fanboys like myself have to admit that when it comes to little details, Madden walks all over our beloved "NFL 2K1" like Nancy Sinatra in a pair of high heeled boots. »

Avis des Joueurs (Metacritic)

Herodelic 7/10

« At this point and time football was the big one with Gameday and 2k being the biggest enemies to Madden. There existed other offshoots like Blitz but each one of those had something a little different from each other. The fidelity in this like seeing their eyes move and expressions when they get hit or score a touch down is a big jump from the previous gen. It's easy to say every Madden is the same, especially with later titles but in these still early"ish" years they had fun. With not realistic teams like mummies, cowboys, and aliens as well as unlockables based on how you played it is a complete opposite of how the games are now. It's sad, as while this is more sim than other titles at the time, it's pretty arcadey compared to what exists now. »

Iconixsss 7/10

« Madden NFL 2001 was one of North America's release titles for this console, utilizing the massive graphic changes from previous generation models. This game 3D models hold up and interactive to make for a fun experience for those who like this generation of play. The Madden Cards that were featured in the game was new at the time now seem just a added pleasure to those that like to collect. Only thing that doesn't hold up is the player skins that supposed to resemble the player is washed and feel lifeless. Overall this game is a good representation of peak time Madden and brings back memories of the best years of NFL Football. »

BlakkSteel 9/10

« THIS was the game that pulled me away from NFL Game day series, for good. This game handled & looked fantastically well. For the PS2, this was unstoppable. »
