Little Misfortune, développé et édité par Killmonday Games HB, est sorti le 18 septembre 2019 sur PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch et Xbox One. Il s'agit d'une histoire interactive douce-amère axée sur l'exploration et les personnages, où les choix du joueur ont des conséquences, mêlant tonalités sombres et tendres. Le récit met en scène Misfortune Ramirez Hernandez, une fillette de huit ans à l'imagination débordante partie chercher le bonheur éternel pour l'offrir à sa mère, guidée par son nouvel ami Monsieur la Voix à travers la forêt où mystères et malchance l'attendent. Le titre partage l'univers du jeu culte Fran Bow, créé par le même duo de développeurs, et utilise le moteur Unity. Classé parmi les genres aventure, arcade, indépendant, point-and-click, réflexion et plateforme, il propose une durée de trois heures pour l'histoire principale et cinq heures pour une approche complétiste, au prix de 16,79 euros.
L'accueil critique est contrasté. La presse a salué la dimension troublante et fascinante du jeu, SpazioGames évoquant le retour des visions sombres de Fran Bow et Adventure Gamers qualifiant l'œuvre de conte adulte sombre mais captivant malgré les apparences scintillantes. Certains joueurs regrettent un scénario ennuyeux et trop de dialogues inutiles, tandis que d'autres expriment leur plaisir face au mélange d'humour et de trame sordide, ou soulignent la beauté des dessins et de l'histoire. Le score Metacritic s'établit à 57, l'OpenCritic à 78 et la note agrégée à 64,81.

« El juego me ha gustado, mezclando humor de todo tipo (negro, infantil, escatológico, dobles sentidos) con una trama más turbia y siniestra, siendo el personaje de Misfortune entrañable con su inocencia infantil. La historia está bien, sin ser excelente y tiene una duración acertada para el tipo de juego que es, aunque no tiene gran rejugabilidad, más allá de los completistas y coleccionistas de logros. Tiene dos finales, pero da pereza volver a jugar el juego entero buscando las dos chorradas que se te pasaron en la primera partida. Y es que el juego está bien, pero no tiene más aliciente que pulsar donde el juego te dice que pinches, tomar alguna decisión de escasa trascendencia en el resultado final del juego, y estar atento para lanzar purpurina en los puntos exactos »

« weird as hell and not in a good horror game way. like i got a feeling the devs are pedos or think talking about children like that is funny which is insane. corny or disgusting jokes - or both (also talking about an 8-year-olds ****?? jesus christ?? weird image of her lifting up her dress??? and saying she and an ANIMAL are in love) that are yet again creepy as hell. this developer (thankfully tbh cuz these white ppl are insane) never put even a non white extra in their games before but this one has a japanese boy who only says one line cuz that’s soooo funny right?? japanese people aren’t even real people right guys?? please laugh at our game omg now let’s make a pedo joke and make the main character get stuck in a window and fart had one of the worst voice acting jobs i’ve ever seen just because the girls voice is insufferable. barely any gameplay even for a point-and-click and a plot that’s predictable from the first 5 minutes »
